To Love Allaah And His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)
"There are three qualities. He who possesses them has tasted the sweetness of faith:
1. Allaah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else;
2. He loves an individual and he does not love him except for the sake of Allaah;
3. He hates to return to disbelief just as he would hate to be tossed into the fire.
[Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree, No. 16, Saheeh Muslim No. 43]
Shaykh Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaamee, may Allaah have mercy upon, mentioned in his explanation of the first quality:
"This is such that one does not put anything before the pleasure of Allaah, nor does he put anything before the guidance of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), from speech, madh'hab, nor opinion. Rather, he gives utmost precedence to the pleasure of Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa) and the implementation of the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and following it.
This love, as we mentioned, is an action of the heart and the action of the heart is in need of something to attest to its truthfulness from the obedience of Allaah and adherence to His command and avoidance of His prohibitions. This is evidence for the love of Allaah.
Love of Allaah is the true soul of eemaan (faith), and eemaan without love of Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa) is like a body that is dead, having no soul within it. His eemaan is surface level. However, true love is that which emanates from true eemaan in Allaah, the Glorified and Exalted.
Similarly, love of the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), is not exemplified by religious celebrations or Islamic occasions - as some of the people refer to them - and that which accompanies that from gifts and foods.
There is no celebration in Islaam for displaying love of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). These are innovated gatherings which occur within many lands in which many people gather from both genders in their best clothing, perfumes, and decorations in the name of celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).
You will find amongst those who celebrate, he who does not pray and he who is the furthest of the people from the teachings of Al-Islaam and from clinging to the religion of Al-Islaam. However, they want to display love for the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) by way of this gathering, celebration and eating food, then dancing in a manner which they call the remembrance of Allaah. How great is the strangeness of Al-Islaam?!
Love of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is exemplified by learning his Sunnah. Knowledge comes before speech and action. One must dedicate himself to learning and not turn away from his Sunnah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).
You must learn how to become a scholar and a faqeeh in the religion of Allaah and avoid following desires and statements of men that oppose the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Whatever the person learns from the statements of men and he doesn't look at these statements in light of the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and display humility for it then this does not indicate true love; if he knows it to be from that which the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was upon, acted upon, and called to (then he acts upon it). This is true love.
Love of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) for the sake of himself without loving the messenger ship will not benefit. Abuu Taalib used to love the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and was ardent in his love for him and greatly concerned for him. He knew the correctness of his religion due to that which was between them in closeness and he outwardly professed that. Nothing prevented him from eemaan in him and following him except fear of criticism and following the forefathers. He mentioned some lines of poetry wherein he said:

Nothing prevented him from eemaan in him and following him except fear of criticism and following the forefathers. He mentioned some lines of poetry wherein he said:
'I know the religion of Muhammad is from the best of the religions that
exist.'
However, this knowledge did not benefit him. Look at the next line of poetry, he said:
'Were it not for fear of criticism or that I shall be reviled, you would have found me proclaiming and following that ardently.'
So it was fear of criticism and abuse that prevented him from eemaan. Had he believed then they would have criticised him. A man has status amongst his people and he fears that they would criticise him and say that he has altered the religion of 'Abdul-Muttalib. This would be considered something great amongst them; that the person should change the religion of their forefathers and grandfathers, due to this he did not believe.
It is a must that one knows that eemaan is something in addition to knowledge and cognisance. The person knowing that he is the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is not sufficient. Rather, it is a must that one loves him because he is the Messenger of Allaah. Therefore, true love is love along with eemaan, compliance, and obedience. This is that which will benefit."

▪️Is shaving the beard a major sin?▪️
Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:
📩 Question:
Is shaving the beard considered a major sin?
📝 Answer:
Shaving the beard is a sinful act which is oft-repeated, so based on this fact alone (i.e. trivialising shaving), it shouldn't come as much of a surprise if it reaches the level of being a major sin, because it's established that 'Abdullah Ibn 'Abbaas -may Allaah be pleased with him- said:
((لا صغيرة مع الإصرار، ولا كبيرة مع الاستغفار))
"No sin is 'minor' with persistence, and no sin is 'major' with repentance."
[Reported by Abdur-razzaq and ibn Jareer with an authentic chain]
So minor sins turn into major sins by simply persisting upon them.
Moreover, shaving is a sin which is practiced out in the open, as we all know.
So considering it as a major sin is not something far-fetched, rather this is the strongest opinion among the scholars.
What's more, shaving is likening oneself to women and an imitation of the enemies of Allaah; the disbelievers - whereas the prophet ﷺ said:
"Trim the moustache and grow the beard, distinguish yourselves from the Jews", or rather he ﷺ said, "distinguish yourselves from the fire worshippers (Majoos)."
And he ﷺ said:
((لعن الله المتشبهين من الرجال بالنساء، ولعن المتشبهات من النساء بالرجال))
"Allaah cursed men who liken themselves to women, and He cursed women who liken themselves to men."
[Reported by Bukhaari from the hadeeth of Ibn Abbaas -may Allaah be pleased
with him-]
So the one who shaves the beard is not free from resembling the women.
And with Allaah comes all success.

Abu Sulaymaan Khaalid Al-Haatimi

Question:
Is it permissible to join institutes run by Sūfīs or other deviants only for the sole purpose of learning tajwīd, Qurʾān Memorization or the Arabic language in case there are no salafīs nearby to benefit from? Or is it preferred that I learn on my own as much as possible?
Answer:
The Shaykh Abū Bilāl responded by saying:
“No, he should not enter an institute run by Sūfīs. Rather he should guard his dīn and use the websites available from the salafiyyīn. There is plenty available from which he can study the language and tajwīd from the likes of alilmia.net until Allāh opens for him an opportunity that he may sit with the scholars and students of knowledge and learn upon the way the salaf.”
End of speech of Shaykh Abū Bilāl al-Ḥaḍramī
We should keep in mind the statements of the salaf warning against sitting with people of deviance. Like the statement of Marwān bin Muḥammad al-Tatarī (who is a companion of Imām Mālik):
“Three should not be trusted in the religion. A sūfī, a storyteller, and an innovator (even if he is one) who warns against the people of desires (A person who warns against few other innovators, but he himself is an innovator).”
[Reported by al-Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ in Tartīb al-Madārik]
Also the statement of Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allāh be pleased with him): “Do not sit with the people of desires. For indeed their sittings cause sickness of the heart.”
[Reported by Ibn Baṭṭah in al-Ibānah al-Kubrā]
Compiled by: Abū ʿAbdillāh Khaḍar al-Amrīkī
