How Women Should Go Out On The Day Of Eid

Imam Ibn Qudama rahimahullah wrote:

“Verily it is recommended for them [the women] to come out not perfumed and not wearing a clothing of fame/popularity nor adornment. They should come out in the clothing they wear when serving/working due to the statement of the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam:

ٌ
“but they may go out (to the mosque) having not perfumed themselves”

[Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 565]

They should not mix with the men, but be to the side of them”.

[Mughni (2/116)]

Imam al-‘Adheemabaadi rahimahullah explained the above Hadith saying:

“That is, not perfumed. It is said a woman is ( تفلة) if her scent changes. That is what Ibn Abdul Barr said and others said. That is what Shawkaani said. In al-Ma’aalim it states: ( التفل) is a bad scent. A woman is said to be ( تفلة) if she is not perfumed and women are called ( تفلات) [end quote]. Verily, they were ordered that and prohibited from perfume as in the narration of Muslim ibn Zaynab so that they do not stir the men by their perfume. Connected to perfume is whatever takes its meaning from the things that stir the desires, like good clothing and jewelry whose traces are seen and luxurious adornment”.

[‘Awn al-Ma’bood]

However, some of the Salaf interpreted the word (تفلات ) to mean without perfume, instead of smelling bad.

Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah said: “The women used to gather with the Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam and it used to be said: Do not come out except (تفلات) a good scent should not be present with you”

[Reported by Ibn Abi Shaybah in his Musannaf and graded Saheeh by al-Albani in al-Ajwibah an-Nafiah pg. 48]

Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad hafidhuhallah explained it as:

“There is not with them a good scent. Verily, they come out in their usual scent which does not have perfume. Verily they come out of their houses without beautifying and perfuming. The intent of (التفلة) is without perfume. So she comes out with the scent, that which upon her (and) without using perfume”

[Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no.78]

While a woman does not have to wear the clothing she wears while serving or working, she should wear a jilbab on the day of Eid.

Proof:

Narrated Um Atiya:

We were ordered to bring out our menstruating women and veiled women in the religious gatherings and invocation of Muslims on the two Id festivals. These menstruating women were to keep away from their Musalla. A woman asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ‘ What about one who does not have a veil?” He said, “Let her share the veil of her companion.”

[Al-Bukhari no. 351]

Hafidh Ibn Hajr rahimahullah said:

“The intent is her sister who is a friend. It is possible to mean that she shares her thawb with her. What supports this is the version of the Hadith in Abu Dawood: ‘Let her wear some of her clothing’. That is if it is spacious. It is possible that the intent of his statement, ‘her clothing’ is a type of clothing, so it returns to the first. It is taken from this Hadith the permissibility of two women being under or in one clothing when covering. It was said this was mentioned by way of exaggeration”.

[Fath ul-Baari]

Mulla Ali Qaari rahimahullah said:

“In this Hadith is the recommendation of preparing a Jilbaab for a woman, the permissibility of borrowing clothing, and preventing a woman from going out without a Jilbaab”

When Is It Best To Start Congratulating Each Other For Eid – Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah

Question:

When is it best to start congratulating each other for Eid?

Answer:

It should be on the day of eid after the prayer as it comes in some narrations

Hafidh Ibn Hajr rahimahullah said:

“With a Hasan chain from Jubair ibn Nufayr said: The Companions of the Messenger sallahu alayhi wa salam if they used to met on the day of eid they would say to one another: May Allah accept from you and me”

[Fathul Bari]

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah was asked:

Question:

Is the greeting on Eid and what the people say: Eid Mubarak and what resembles that legislated or not? If it does have an origin in the legislation, then what is said? Please give us a verdict may Allah reward you.

Answer:

As for the greeting on Eid, each person says to the other when meeting after the Eid prayer: Tabbaqal Allah Minna wa Minkum and Wa Ahalahul Allahu Alayka and what resembles that. This has been reported from a group of the Companions radiallahu anhu and they allowed it. However, Imam Ahmed said: I do not initiate it to anyone. If someone initiates it with me then I respond to it. That is because responding is obligatory. As for initiating the greeting then it is not a Sunnah ordered. It is also not something prohibited. So whoever does it, then he has an example and whoever leaves it off, then he has an example. And Allah Knows Best”

What Happens If You Observe Fasting On The Day Of 'Arafah?

Abuu Qataadah Al-Ansaaree (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated, "The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafah (the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah). He replied, 'It is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.' He was also asked about fasting on the day of 'Aashuuraa (the 10th of Muharram). He replied, 'It is an expiation for the preceding year.'”

Seclude Yourself On The Evening Of 'Arafah If You're Able

It is reported that Ataa’a Ibn Abee Rabaah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:

“If you are able to be in a state of seclusion; away from people on the evening of ‘Arafah, then do so.”

Du'ā on the Day of 'Arafah - Ustādh Abū Atiyāh

The best of supplication to say on the day of 'Arafah. Make sure you say this a lot! Spread this to your family and friends so they may also benefit inshaallaah.
⚠️ Two Important Notices:

First Notice:
The most complete way to fast ʿĀshūrā’ is by fasting on the ninth (tomorrow -> Friday) along with the tenth (Saturday).

As for fasting on the eleventh day (Sunday), the ḥadīth regarding it is weak. It was narrated by Aḥmad, Ibn Khuzaymah, and Al-Bayhaqī from the narration of Ibn ʿAbbās, and it contains two flaws:

First flaw: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdirraḥmān ibn Abī Laylā — trustworthy but of poor memory.

Second flaw: Dāwūd ibn ʿAlī Al-Hāshimī — deemed acceptable (maqbūl) (1).

Second Notice:
This year, the day of ʿĀshūrā’ falls on a Saturday. It is permissible to fast it alone or along with the day before it (Tāsūʿā’, the ninth). As for the ḥadīth:
"Do not fast on Saturday except for what has been made obligatory upon you. And if one of you finds nothing but the bark of a grapevine or a tree branch, let him chew it," this ḥadīth is weak.

It was narrated by Aḥmad, Abū Dāwūd, At-Tirmidhī, and An-Nasā’ī in Al-Kubrā from the narration of ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr. Mālik said, “This is a lie,” and An-Nasā’ī stated, “This is a contradictory (muḍṭarib) ḥadīth.”

(1) Accepted according to Al-Ḥāfiẓ’s terminology in At-Taqrīb as a form of criticism (jarḥ), meaning the ḥadīth is weak (layyin Al-ḥadīth) unless it is corroborated. [Benefit from Abul Hasan Ali Australi]

Allaah Is More Merciful To You Than Your Own Mother

'Umar Ibnul-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported: Some captives were brought to the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ), and amongst them was a woman who was searching (for someone). Whenever she found a child amongst the captives, she would take the child, hug the child tightly, and nurse them. The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) then said to us:

"Do you think this woman would throw her child into the Fire?" We said, "No, by Allaah! Not while she is able to prevent it." The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said: “Allaah is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child.”

WHAT TO SAY AFTER THE RECITATION OF THE QURAN

Sheikh ʿAbdul-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz said:
“Many people have become accustomed to saying: ‘ṢadaqAllāh-ul-‘Adhīm’ when they finish reciting the Qurān Al-Karīm, But this act is baseless and it should not be taken as a custom. Rather, according to the principles of Sharī'ah (Islāmic law), it is a type of Bid’ah.

[Majmūʿ al-Fatāwá 24/410]

An Abandoned Sunnah after Reciting the Qur'ān

It is preferred on finishing the recitation of the Qur'ān to say:

The evidence for this is as follows:

Aaishah - may Allāh be pleased with her - mentioned that:

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was never in a sitting, never recited the Qur'ān, nor did he ever offer a prayer, except that he ended them all with certain words.

She added:

''So I said to him, O Messenger of Allaah, I noticed that you never are in a sitting, nor do you ever recite the Quraan, nor observe a Salaat, except that you end off with these words''.

He replied by saying, ''Yes''.

''Whoever has said good (words) would have them placed as a seal over the good he has done and whoever has said evil (words) would have them used as an expiation for the evil he uttered''.

(They are):

Unfortunately, these days the majority of the people (except those Allaah blesses) have abandoned this Sunnah (either due to ignorance of it or due to forgetfulness).

After reciting the Quran, they replaced this sunnah with:

Sadaqallaahul adheem or kissing the Quraan.

Thus, it is incumbent upon us to spread this sunnah so it can be established once again.

Imām An-Nasā'ee named the chapter of this hadeeth in his book as "What to conclude the recitation of the Qur'ān with."

Its isnaad is authentic as explained by An-Nasā'ee in "As-Sunan Al-Kubrā".

Ibn Hajar also mentioned in "An-Nukat" (733/2) that its chain of narration is authentic.

Al-Albānī equally said in "Silsilat As-Saheehah" (495/7) that "this is also an authentic chain that conforms with the conditions of Imām Muslim."

Sheikh Muqbil Al-Wādi’ee mentioned in "Al-Jāmi’ As-Saheeh Mimmaa Laysa Fi As-Saheehayn" (128/2) that "this is an authentic narration"

The Two Jihaads Of The Self In Ramadhaan

Al-Haafith Ibn Rajab, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:

"Know that in the month of Ramadhaan there are two jihaads of the self which take place for the believer: jihaad of the daytime with fasting, and jihaad of the night time with standing for prayer. So whoever gathers between these two jihaads, fulfills their rights, and is patient with them, then he is given his reward without limit."
