What Is Patience (الصبر - As-Sabr)?
قال الإمام ابن القيم رحمه الله:
الصبر حبس النفس عن التسخط بالمقدور، وحبس اللسان عن الشكوى وحبس الجوارح عن المعصية.
[الوابل الصيب من كلم الطيب، ص ٥]
Al-Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him:
“Patience is restraining the soul from being displeased with that which has been decreed, restraining the tongue from complaining, and restraining the limbs from [actions of] disobedience.”

It is reported that Abuu Haazim, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:
“The blessing of Allaah in preventing me from the worldly life is greater than His blessing in giving me from it. For verily I have seen He had given it to a people and they were destroyed.”
