قال ابن تيمية رحمه الله:

أَنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ حَدَّثَتْهُ نَفْسُهُ بِذَنْبِ فَكَرِهَهُ وَنَفَاهُ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ وَتَرَكَهُ لِلَّهِ ازْدَادَ صَلَاحًا وَبِرًّا وَتَقْوَى.
