Have Patience

Allaah Is With The Patient Ones

O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).

[Al-Quraan 2:153]

Patience Is At The First Strike Of A Calamity

- Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, passed by a woman who was weeping next to a grave. The Prophet, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said (translated meaning), “Be mindful of Allaah and be patient.” She said, “Go away from me! You have not been afflicted by a calamity like mine,” and she did not recognize him. Then, she was told that it was the Prophet, so she went to the Prophet’s house and she did not find any guards there. She said to him, “I did not recognize you.” The Prophet, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said, “Verily, patience is at the first strike.”

Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree, No. 1283, and Saheeh Muslim, No. 926

The Best Way Of Living Is Through Patience

- 'Umar Ibnul-Khattaab, may Allaah be pleased with him:

"أفضل عيش أدركناه بالصبر ولو أن الصبر كان من الرجال كان كريماً."

"The most excellent way of living we attained was through patience, and if patience was from men, he would be honorable."

Ibn Abee Dunyaa, The Book Of Patience, Pg. 6

Supplication For Patience

"Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience and make us victorious over the disbelieving people."

[Al-Quraan 2:250]

May Allaah make us from the patient ones.

‎“I never saw anyone who wore cleaner clothing, nor someone who gave greater care in taking care of himself in his moustache, the hair on his head, and his body hair, nor someone with a cleaner and brighter white thobe than Ahmad Ibn Hanbal.”

Umm Kulthuum, the daughter of Abuu Bakr, reported that 'Aaishah, may Allaah be pleased with her, said, "The Prophet, salallaahu' alayhi wa sallam, came to me while I was praying when he needed something. I was taking a long time and he said, ' 'Aaishah, you must make the comprehensive supplication.' When I finished, I asked, 'Messenger of Allaah, what is the comprehensive supplication?' He said, 'Say:

O Allaah, I ask You for all good, both sooner and later, what I know of it and what I do not know. I seek refuge with You from all evil, both sooner and later, what I know of it and what I do not know. I ask You for the Paradise and whatever words or actions bring one near to it. I seek refuge with You from the Fire and whatever words or actions bring one near to it. I ask You for what Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam asked You for and I seek refuge with You from what Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam sought refuge from, and whatever fate You have decreed for me, make its end right guidance.'"

From the Hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with them.

Some have said this is for when going to the Fajr prayer due to that being mentioned in the Hadeeth, and some have said it can be said when going for all prayers. It has also been narrated that the Du'aa was also said in the prayer, and in prostration, and Allaah knows best.

And now people are spreading 'do a global tahajjud' around as if committing bidah is going to help them. Rather it's going to make things worse for us. Sins (bidah being a major sin) only make things worse for the ummah. Repentance and doing good deeds (sincerely for Allaah Alone and in accordance to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is what will aid the ummah and bring around victory. This is why having basic knowledge of the fundamentals of the religion is vital. May Allaah guide us to what is pleasing to Him and grant us victory. Allaah knows best.

Al-Baqarah 2:62

English - Tafsir ibn kathir

Faith and doing Righteous Deeds equals Salvation in all Times

Allah says;

Verily, those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians (Sabi'in), whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

After Allah described the condition - and punishment - of those who defy His commands, fall into His prohibitions and transgress set limits by committing prohibited acts, He stated that the earlier nations who were righteous and obedient received the rewards for their good deeds. This shall be the case, until the Day of Judgment. Therefore, whoever follows the unlettered Messenger and Prophet shall acquire eternal happiness and shall neither fear from what will happen in the future nor become sad for what has been lost in the past.

Similarly, Allah said,

No doubt! Verily, the Awliya of Allah, no fear shall come upon them nor shall they grieve. (10:62)

The angels will proclaim to the dying believers, as mentioned,

Verily, those who say:"Our Lord is Allah (alone)," and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying):"Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!" (41:30)
The Meaning of Mu'min, or Believer

Ali bin Abi Talhah narrated from Ibn Abbas, about,
(Verily, those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day) that Allah revealed the following Ayah afterwards,

And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. (3:85).

This statement by Ibn Abbas indicates that Allah does not accept any deed or work from anyone, unless it conforms to the Law of Muhammad that is, after Allah sent Muhammad. Before that, every person who followed the guidance of his own Prophet was on the correct path, following the correct guidance and was saved.
Why the Jews were called Yahud

The Jews are the followers of Prophet Musa, who used to refer to the Tawrah for judgment. Yahud is a word that means,

repenting', just as Musa said,
(We have Hudna (we repent, go back and return) unto You), (7:156).
Why the Christians were called Nasara

Allah said;

"Who will be my helpers in Allah's cause" Al-Hawariyyun said:"We are the helpers of Allah." (61:14)

It was said that;

they were called Nasara', because they inhabited a land called An-Nasirah (Nazareth), as Qatadah, Ibn Jurayj and Ibn Abbas were reported to have said, Allah knows best.
Nasara is certainly plural for Nasran.

When Allah sent Muhammad as the Last and Final Prophet and Messenger to all of the Children of Adam, mankind was required to believe in him, obey him and refrain from what he prohibited them; those who do this are true believers. The Ummah of Muhammad was called
Mu'minin' (believers), because of the depth of their faith and certainty, and because they believe in all of the previous Prophets and matters of the Unseen.
The Sabi'un or Sabians

There is a difference of opinion over the identity of the Sabians.

Sufyan Ath-Thawri said that Lay

th bin Abu Sulaym said that Mujahid said that,

"The Sabians are between the Majus, the Jews and the Christians. They do not have a specific religion."

Similar is reported from Ibn Abi Najih.

Similar statements were attributed to Ata and Said bin Jubayr.

They (others) say that;

the Sabians are a sect among the People of the Book who used to read the Zabur (Psalms), others say that they are a people who worshipped the angels or the stars.

It appears that the closest opinion to the truth, and Allah knows best, is Mujahid's statement and those who agree with him like Wahb bin Munabbih, that;

the Sabians are neither Jews nor Christians nor Majus nor polytheists. Rather, they did not have a specific religion that they followed and enforced, because they remained living according to their Fitrah (instinctual nature). This is why the idolators used to call whoever embraced Islam a
Sabi', meaning, that he abandoned all religions that existed on the earth.

Some scholars stated that;

the Sabians are those who never received a message by any Prophet.

And Allah knows best

May Allaah Have Mercy Upon Him

“I have never envied anyone over anything: if a person is going to be in the Fire, how could I envy him over some worldly matter when he is destined for the Fire?! And if he is going to Paradise, how could I be envious of a man of Paradise with whom Allaah Tabaaraka wa Ta’aalaa is pleased?!”
