◾Google Location or GPS to identity Qiblah◾️
Answered by our Shaykh, the 'Allāmah, the Trustworthy Advisor, Abu 'Abdirrahmān Yahya bin 'Ali Al-Hajūri - may Allāh preserve him - on the 25th, Dhūl-Hijjah, 1441H
📥Question:
Conflict between Google location and the GPS device in identifying the direction of the Qiblah, with what is well known from observation is that there is a difference between them and what is relied upon at stoppages to identify the qiblah is the GPS device, so which of them do we take?
📤Answer:
They take what their ijtihād has led them to and what they saw to be closer to the accurate direction, if they know that this is closer to the direction they take it, and those that came before them used to take the star which is in the direction of the qiblah, so they directed their masjids upon that, and perhaps you find those that came after them began directing according to the old masājids which some of the elderly directed upon the star of the qiblah, and they say this star is in the direction of the qiblah, so they say make the direction of the masjid upon that, and indeed there comes a slight deviation, either by a little bit or... in most cases it occurs, but a few degrees deviation does not harm, so if they do that and they have experience with it then what a blessing, and if they did ijtihād and found this is more closer to the direction, then the matter is flexible in that regard.

Q: Do you say “Allāhu Akbar” upon sujūd tilāwah❓
🔅Sujūd Tilāwah (۩) = a prostration that is offered upon reading or hearing certain verses of the Qurān e.g....
A: Majority of the scholars are of the view one does takbīr (saying Allāhu Akbar) upon going to sujūd and getting back up. However, the more correct view is that NOTHING authentic has been reported concerning it (both going into sujūd and rising from it) [Sh. Muqbil ibn Hādī].
🔅The increase of “takbīr” in the Hadīth of Ibn ‘Umar which is used as proof for the view of the majority has been criticised for its weakness. The mention of “takbīr” in the Hadīth is da’īf munkar, and hence cannot be used as proof.
🔅In short..........the takbīr for sujūd tilāwah (both going and rising from it) is NOT legislated due to the weakness in the increase of the Hadīth reported therein.

◾Did 'Īsā (Jesus) die or was he raised?◾
Our Shaykh Abū Bilāl - may Allāh preserve him- was asked on 26th Muharam 1442H (14th September 2020):
📝🔹Question:
How are these two verses concerning 'Īsā (Jesus) - peace be upon him - to be reconciled
《Rather, Allah raised him (up) to Himself》
(An-Nisa' 4:158)
《When you took my soul, you were The All Observant overthem.》?
(Al-Ma'idah 5:117)
📩🔸Answer:
Taking of the soul here means being put to sleep, meaning; when you put me to sleep and raised me up to you.
This - in shā Allāh - is from the best statements (of the scholars) for indeed sleep is referred to as taking of the soul.
Allāh takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term.
(Az-Zumar 39:42)
So this removal of the soul is one of sleep.
