Spike in divorce rates and halting its rise

Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:

Question:

The questioner says: We are shocked at the rise in divorce rates these days; as soon as a slight difference arises between a man and his wife, they rush to divorce. What is your advice – may Allah bless you?

Answer:

Undoubtedly, divorce is something which brings much joy to Shaytan, and he strives very hard in this cause – as Muslim reported from the Hadeeth of Jabir ibn Abdillah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet ﷺ said:

‘Iblees places his throne on the water; he then sends detachments (for creating Fitnah); the closest to him in rank are those who create the most Fitnah. One of them comes and says: “I did so and so.” And he says: “You have done nothing.” Then another one comes and says: “I did not spare him until I separated between him and his wife.” Iblees says: “You have done well,” then he embraces him.’

So this brings great joy to the devils, hence why they pursue this matter so keenly.

Therefore, the best way to prevent divorce is to drive shaytan away, and the greatest means to drive him away is to:

remember Allah frequently fulfill the obligations preserve one’s Eeman (faith) and Tawheed (monetheism) offer the five daily prayers and being regular in all the other duties of Islam being constant in the remembrance of Allah, as this protects a person from shaytan, by Allah’s permission stay away from sins, for indeed sins destroy a person – especially major sins.

So it’s incumbent that a person fears Allah with regards to his actions and stays away committing major sins; wrongdoing, oppression etc.

One must take himself to account, because these affairs are a reason for Shaytan to gain an upper hand; frequent sin and transgression are a major cause for Shaytaan’s dominance, as well as a person becoming distant from his deen and his heart becoming hard.

So we must fulfill the duties set out by Allah by fulfilling the obligations set out in our religion, and we must fear Allah and keep away from sins and wrongdoing. If we do this – then by Allah’s permission – we will be saved from many of these afflictions, including the affliction of divorce.

May Allah grant everyone success.

In relation to what is happening around the world with the reopening of masājid in some countries and the imposition of distancing between the worshippers during the Ṣalāh, I saw it to be beneficial that I translate and spread what our sheikh 'Abdullāh bin Lamḥ al-Khawlānī حفظه الله wrote regarding the validity of performing the Ṣalāh in such a manner.

We ask Allāh تبارك وتعالى to give us tawfīq and tasdīd.

Abuu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Whenever you intend to leave your house you should pray two rak’ah right before you leave. These rak’ah will protect you from harm while outside. And when you come back home you should pray another two rak’ah. They will safeguard you from harm in your house.”

Sahih: Recorded in Al- Muntaqah, 12/69/1, Al-Bazaar in his Musnad, 81 and Ad-Daylamee in his Musnad, 1/1/108.

Shaykh Albani said in his Silsilah Saheehah 3/315: “The chain of this hadeeth is acceptable and the narrators are trustworthy men used by Bukhari.”

Revive This Forgotten Action

It is reported by Al-Husayn ibn 'Alee, may Allaah be pleased with them, that he said: "My father 'Alee called me to bring (water for) ablution, so I brought it to him, and he started by washing his hands three times, before putting them into the water. Then he rinsed his mouth three times and sniffed water into his nose and blew it out three times. Then he washed his face three times, then his right hand up to the elbow three times, then his left likewise. Then he wiped his head once, then he washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then the left likewise. Then he stood up and said: 'Pass me the vessel.' So I passed the vessel containing the remaining water for his ablution to him, and he drank from it standing up. I was surprised and when he noticed that he said: 'Do not be surprised, for I saw your father the Prophet, ﷺ, doing what you have seen me doing.' referring to his ablution and drinking the leftover water while standing.”

The Mercy Of Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal

May Allaah Have Mercy Upon Him

Al-Imaam Ibnul-Jawzee, may Allaah have mercy upon him, mentions:

When Imaam Ahmad was taken to Al-Mu’tasim, the caliph, to receive the torment, it was said to him: "Pray against the one oppressing you!" Imaam Ahmad replied: “He is not patient (saabir), the one who prays against one oppressing him.”

Imaam Ahmad was taken in the month of Ramadhaan and lashed whilst he was fasting until he fainted. When he gained consciousness a man said to him: “We threw you on your face, laid a mat over you and walked all over you.” Imaam Ahmad said: “I didn’t feel anything.”

They then brought Imaam Ahmad something to drink and said: “Drink this and vomit.” He said: “I wouldn’t break my fast.”

They then took him to the officer’s house and time for Dhuhr came. After they had prayed, a person turned to Imaam Ahmad and said: “You prayed while blood is dripping from your clothes!” Imaam Ahmad replied: “'Umar prayed whilst his wound poured out blood.”

Furan, the student of Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal once informed him of Fadl Al-Anmati: “Fadl said to me: ‘I would not forgive the one who ordered my lashing until I say that the Quraan is created; nor would I forgive the one who lashed me, nor those who were happy over this from those who attended the lashing and those who were absent from the Jahmis!” Imaam Ahmad said in reply: “But I have forgiven Al-Mu’tasim (the caliph), the one who lashed me, and all those who were present or absent. I thought that none should be punished (in the Hereafter) on my account.”
