Birthday Celebration for the Month of Iyar Held in Mykolaiv
The Jewish community of Mykolaiv hosted another festive event as part of the “My Jewish Birthday” project, dedicated to those celebrating their birthdays in the month of Iyar. Despite a nighttime rocket attack launched on the city, the synagogue was filled with people of all ages.
Guests enjoyed a festive meal, a quiz, and listened to the heartfelt words from Rabbi Sholom and Rebbetzin Dina Gottlieb.
Birthday celebrants received memorable gifts: thermoses with the community logo and the Pirkei Avot book (courtesy of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine).
Volunteers of the project were also specially honored with the certificates of appreciation for their dedicated work.

Over 1,000 Holy Books Distributed Among Jewish Communities of Ukraine Ahead of Shavuot
In the lead-up to the holiday of Shavuot — when the Jewish people commemorate the giving of the Torah — a significant event took place across the Jewish communities of Ukraine: the distribution of over 1,000 sacred Jewish books as part of the initiative “1,000 Holy Jewish Books for the Communities of Ukraine.” The project was initiated by the philanthropist and benefactor Yuriy Nikitenko with the support of the Jewish community of Dnipro.
Synagogues in cities such as Khmelnytskyi (Rabbi Yosef Teitelboim), Kremenchuk (Rabbi Shlomo Salamon), Lviv (Rabbi Mendel Gottlieb), and Mykolaiv (Rabbi Sholom Gottlieb), as well as two Kyiv communities — “Simcha” (Rabbi Mordechai Levingart) and “Obolon” (Rabbi Sholom Gopin) — have already received 50 copies each of Siddurim, Chumashim, and Tehillim. Smaller communities in Central and Western Ukraine, along with the Jewish Lyceum of Dnipro, also received individual sets — the latter as a graduation gift for its students.
It is expected that by Shavuot, the number of distributed books will exceed 1,250 — significantly more than originally planned. The initiative responds to the call of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to spread Jewish books and fill the world with holiness. It was warmly welcomed by all the participating communities.

FJCU Chaplain Visits Soldiers on the Zaporizhzhia Frontline
The Chaplain of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine, Yakiv Synyakov, visited a unit of the Territorial Defense Forces stationed on the Zaporizhzhia front.
Among the servicemen there is a Jewish soldier whose family resides in Israel. Despite this fact, he made a conscious choice to remain in Ukraine and defend his homeland by joining the Territorial Defense.
During his visit, the chaplain delivered humanitarian aid and led a prayer for the safety of the soldiers and Ukraine’s victory. The troops received not only material support but also much-needed spiritual encouragement — through a heartfelt prayer, personal conversations, and words of upliftment.
Moments like these highlight a profound sense of unity — where care, prayer, and gratitude stand side by side.
