scrape /skreɪp/ - скрести, скоблить (также в переносном значении)

law enforcement officials - сотрудники правоохранительных органов

City law enforcement officials were accused of bribes. (взятки)

controversy /ˈkɒntrəvɜːsi/ - спор; дискуссия; полемика

The controversy surrounding his latest movie continues.

surveillance /sɜːˈveɪləns/ - слежка; наблюдение

The police are keeping the suspects under constant surveillance.

watchdog  - человек, группа лиц, следящая за соблюдением законов, орган по надзору, сторожевая собака

She is a member of the consumer watchdog for transport in London and Southern England.

violate /ˈvaɪəleɪt/ нарушать (закон)

The actions of this country violate international laws.

intrusive /ɪnˈtruːsɪv/ бесцеремонный; вторгающийся

The constant presence of the media was very intrusive.

commuter /kəˈmjuːtə(r)/ - человек, регулярно совершающий поездки из пригорода в город и обратно, как правило, на работу;

stroll /strəʊl/ - прогуливаться, бродить;

unprecedented /ʌnˈpresɪdentɪd/ - беспрецедентный

MP – Member of Parliament - член парламента

counterfeit /ˈkaʊntəfɪt/ products – контрафактные товары

loophole /ˈluːphəʊl/ - лазейка

This law was designed to close any loopholes in tax legislation. #news
sizzling /ˈsɪzlɪŋ/ -  обжигающий, шкворчащий;

It's a sizzling hot day today!

There was a delicious smell coming from the sizzling bacon.

millennia – тысячелетия;

For millennia, it was accepted that the earth was at the centre of the universe.

butcher ['buʧə] – мясник;

The butcher hacked off a large chunk of meat.

pea [pi:] – горошина, гороховый;

We don't have any fresh vegetables, only frozen peas.

chickpeas ['ʧɪkpi:] – нут;

Chickpeas are used to make hummus and falafel.

beetroot ['biːtruːt] – свекла;

yeast [ji:st] – дрожжи;

Yeast makes dough rise.

harness technology – использовать технологию (технологические достижения);

Using this method we have helped manufacturers to harness technology to grow their business.

grind-ground ground - [graɪnd] [graund] – перемалывать, измельчать;

ground coffee – молотый кофе

ground meat - фарш

diner ['daɪnə] – посетитель (ресторана), гость;

The number of staff required varies with the number of diners.
