Бійці 75-го полку рейнджерів Армії Сполучених Штатів з спеціальним варіантом HMMWV під назвою Ground Mobility Vehicle. Фото 2014 року. GMV - це ціла програма модернізації наявних у автопарку Командування Сил спеціальних операцій бронемашин підвищеної прохідності HMMWV.
Перші подібні машини з'явилися під час Війни у Перській затоці, тоді їх називали Desert Mobility Vehicle (DMV), або ж «Dumvee».
Суть такої модернізації полягає у максимальному зниженні ваги бронемашини й підвищенні її вогневої потужності шляхом від'єднання від корпусу бронеелементів, даху, наварювання спеціальної полегшеної рами замість корпусу й установці великої кількості точок кріплення озброєння, в тому числі станкових гранатометів та ПТРК. Пізніше модернізовані HMMWV отримали систему централізованої підкачки шин й новий двигун з турбонаддувом.
Завдяки зниженню ваги швидкість та прохідність збільшилася, крім того, з'явилася можливість перевозити машини на підвісах гелікоптерів UH-60 та CH-47 на значно більші відстані через економію палива.
У розпоряджені американських спецпризначенців перебувають наступні моделі:
GMV-S – Зелені берети.
GMV-R – 75-й полк рейнджерів
GMV-N – SEAL/DEVGRU
GMV-T / GMV-SD / GMV-ST – Командування спеціальних операцій ВПС (AFSOC)
GMV-M – Командування спеціальних операцій Корпусу морської піхоти (MARSOC)

The first such vehicles appeared during the Gulf War, then they were called Desert Mobility Vehicle (DMV), or “Dumvee”.
The essence of this modernization is to minimize the weight of the armored vehicle and increase its firepower by disconnecting the armor elements and roof from the body, welding a special lightweight frame instead of the body, and installing a large number of weapons mounting points, including easel grenade launchers and ATGMs. Later, the modernized HMMWVs received a centralized tire inflation system and a new turbocharged engine.
Due to the weight reduction, the speed and cross-country ability increased, and it became possible to transport the vehicles on the suspensions of UH-60 and CH-47 helicopters over much longer distances due to fuel savings.
The following models are at the disposal of the US Special Forces:
GMV-S - Green Berets.

Під час розвитку програми Ground Mobility Vehicle стало зрозуміло, що модернізаційний потенціал HMMWV в плані мобільності та зменшення ваги вже вичерпаний, тому у 2012 було видане замовлення на нову машину.
На відміну від перероблених Humvee, новий транспортний засіб мав бути легшим, швидшим, зручнішим для транспортування по повітрю, морю та суші, і містити комунікаційне та обчислювальне обладнання нового покоління.
У серпні 2013 року компанію General Dynamics було обрано переможцем конкурсу, а американські спецпризначенці почали отримувати новітні машини M1288 GMV 1.1.
За потреби, машина може дообладнуватися навісним бронюванням.

During the development of the Ground Mobility Vehicle program, it became clear that the modernization potential of the HMMWV in terms of mobility and weight reduction had already been exhausted, so in 2012 an order was issued for a new vehicle.
Unlike the redesigned Humvees, the new vehicle was to be lighter, faster, more convenient for transportation by air, sea and land, and contain new generation communications and computing equipment.
In August 2013, General Dynamics was selected as the winner of the competition, and U.S. Special Forces began receiving the latest M1288 GMV 1.1 vehicles.
If necessary, the vehicle can be equipped with hinged armor.
