Georg Witte.
“Transformers” (Kanajan-Kokhanov-Psсhenitschnikova) dedicate their first project to Franz Kafka on the centenary of his death. Kafka's world of absurdity, darkness, and sadness, shockingly revealed in the present, is defined and reflected in sound (voices, traditional instruments, electronics). Three individual perspectives meet in a polyphonic trialogue and confront silence.
“But the most beautiful thing about my building is the silence. Of course, this is deceptive. Suddenly it can be interrupted and everything will end. But for now, it’s still there.” F. Kafka "Building".
“ALWAYS ON AND ON” LEV RUBINSTEIN
Special guest: Georg Witte
After the tragic and sudden death of the Moscow poet Lev Rubinstein, we spontaneously decided to include the second part with texts reminiscent of Rubinstein’s connection to Berlin. Lev Rubinstein was in Berlin in 1994 as a DAAD fellow and has been here several times since then. The texts “Here I am” and “Always on and on” were performed by Lev Rubinstein in 1994 with Natalia Pschenitschnikova and his translator Georg Witte and have become some of his most famous works. Rubinstein's last performance in Berlin occurred in 2018 in PANDA platforma. We want to dedicate this performance to the memory of this extraordinary and irreplaceable person.
The composer-performers trio “Transformers” (Kanajan-Kokhanov-Pschenitchnikova) aims to transform the sound of presence into a single musical concept. Through the interpretation and energetic change of reality, new language development, and the composition of states, they want to influence the evolution of consciousness and look for new tasks for music in the 21st century. Drawing on visual art, text, and performance, Transformers' primary focus is sound. Using a variety of classical acoustic instruments, electronics, and sound objects, as well as their voices, the three band members explore the realm of sonic possibilities.
The event is in German and Russian.
