🇬🇧 UK inflation accelerated in September. Annual CPI rose to 3.5%, above expectations of 3.4% and the previous reading of 3.1%. Monthly inflation came in at 0.4%, versus the 0.3% forecast. Core CPI also increased to 2.8% year over year, in line with expectations. Higher inflation could put additional pressure on the Bank of England and influence interest rate expectations.

🇺🇸 The US is strengthening its military presence in the Middle East. According to media reports, the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit are expected to arrive in the region by the end of November. The increased military presence raises the risk of further escalation and could support oil prices.

🏦 Economists expect the Fed to hold rates in October but raise them in December. According to a Reuters poll, 94 out of 100 economists expect the Fed to keep rates at 3.75%–4.00% at its October 27–28 meeting. All 100 respondents expect a rate hike in December amid persistent inflation.
