⚖️ Gold-to-Silver Ratio (GSR)

🥇 The GSR shows how many ounces of silver you need to buy one ounce of gold. It looks simple, but this ratio carries centuries of history and is still a powerful trading tool today.

💰 In ancient Rome, it was fixed near 12:1. During the 19th century bimetallic era, most economies kept it at 15–16:1.

🟠Once the metals were left to free markets, swings became extreme: in 1980, silver mania crushed it down to 15:1, while the 2020 COVID crash sent it above 120:1.

💡 What does it mean?
🟢A high GSR = silver is cheap vs gold → usually happens in times of fear, when investors hide in gold.
🟠A low GSR = silver is expensive vs gold → often appears during inflationary booms and speculative rushes.

🔥 How traders use it:
Instead of betting only on absolute price, pros rotate between metals. When GSR is stretched high, they accumulate silver expecting catch-up growth.

💥When it collapses low, they shift into gold as the stronger hedge. This “relative play” helps compound returns without leaving the metals space.
