Government Calls TPLF Leaders Whose Arrest Warrants Issued To Peacefully Surrender

The Federal government has called up on leader of TPLF for whose arrest federal warrants have been issued to peacefully surrender and to refrain from engaging in further atrocities, State of Emergency Fact Check stated.

The Federal Government would like to reiterate its commitment to bring to justice those responsible for such heinous crimes, the statement from the emergency fact check said.

“It has been reported by various news outlets that in places such as Mykadra, TPLF’s troops and loyalists have committed atrocities against civilians on the basis of their identity.” indicated on the statement.

This is in keeping with the criminal pattern this clique orchestrated in various places over the last couple of years.

Webinar Discusses IGAD’s Role In Promoting Regional Integration

Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti in collaboration with the IGAD secretariat organized a webinar which has discussed role of IGAD in promoting regional integration in the Horn of Africa.

Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Mohammed Hassen made an opening remark at the webinar where scores of Ethiopian diplomats from the IGAD Region have participated.

In his speech, Ambassador Mohammed noted the key role such platforms can play in further enhancing the awareness of diplomats on the multifaceted socio-economic and political activities being undertaken by the regional organization.

Police Arrest 287 Individuals Suspected Of Having Links With TPLF, OLF Shene Groups

Police have arrested a total of 287 individuals suspected of having links with the extremist TPLF and OLF Shene groups.

According to a statement the Federal Police Commission sent to FBC yesterday, the suspects were arrested in joint operation carried out during the past 14 days.

During the operation, police seized 1,032 guns, 131 pistols, 46, 039 rounds of ammunition, 14 bombs, a land mine, 5 GPS, 8 military binoculars, 5 handcuffs, 55 Magazines and Buttstock of AK47, 1,339 communication devices, 845, 434 local and 227,271 foreign bank notes.

Moreover, military uniforms, passports, documents of overseas work permits, bank books, pistol silencers, computers, anti-tank weapons and other artilleries were seized, the statement indicated.

Arrest Warrants Issued For 76 Generals, High Ranking Military Officers, Subordinate Over Treason

In a press release sent to FBC, the Federal Police Commission announced that arrest warrant has been issued for 76 General Officers, High Ranking Military Officers and Sub-ordinate military personnel over treason.

It is to be recalled that the nation issued arrest warrant for high ranking officials of the TPLF Junta who involved in the atrocious attack on the Northern Command of the National Defence Force and perpetration to dismantle the nation on November 12, 2020.

Likewise, in development decision to seize the perpetrators of the treason, the country has today issued an arrest warrant for the renegade high ranking military officials ranging from general to subordinate officers.

Ethiopia Briefs Military Attachés Of Several Countries On Current Issues

Ministry of Defence is briefing military attachés of several countries on the latest developments in Ethiopia amid government’s law enforcement operation in Tigray.

Dr. Kenea Yadeta, the Defence Minister has presided over the briefing session which is involving participation of military attachés drawn from embassies of 45 countries.

The briefing is focused on justifications regarding the objectives of the law enforcement measures from the onset to its up-to-date developments.

Government’s law enforcement measures it is taking against the TPLF Junta is aimed to bring members of the renegade rebel group who attacked the Defence Force to justice, the minister said, underlining necessity of the operation to ensure law and order.

Ethiopians In Norway Express Support To Law Enforcement Operation In Tigray

Ethiopians and Norwegian nationals of Ethiopian origin residing in Norway have expressed their support to the ongoing law enforcement operation in Tigray.

In a letter sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, they said the operation is meant to ensure peace and security in the country and maintain the territorial integrity of Ethiopia.

It is also intended to defend the rights of citizens hostaged by TPLF and to keep the federal order and to ultimately bring peace and stability in the country, they added,

In the letter, they also expressed their concern about the misinformation and defamations of the government of Ethiopia as well as the Prime Minister.

FM Demeke Holds Telephone Talks With Swedish Counterpart Ann Linde

Foreign Affairs Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen held telephone talks on Thursday with his Swedish Counterpart Ann Linde on current developments in Ethiopia regarding government’s law enforcement operation in Tigray.

Demeke addressed Foreign Minister Ann Linde’s concerns over the possibilities of negotiation between the federal government of Ethiopia and TPLF, communication and power supplies in the region, and humanitarian works to the displaced and vulnerable people due to the operation.

The Foreign Minister highlighted how the federal government went too far in soothing relations with the TPLF junta since the reformist Prime Minister assumed power.

He said the government gave ample chances to TPLF to actively participate in the newly structured political dispensation in which the junta stubbornly refused to take part.

GIZ, Agriculture Ministry Launch A $9M Joint Project

Germen Development Cooperation and Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture launched a 9 Million US Dollars joint project on Thursday.

The Project entitled “Support Responsible Agricultural Investments” is funded by Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, according to the Embassy in Addis Ababa.

According to German Embassy in Addis Ababa, local government bodies, communities and private investors will be supported to manage land resources and 511 commercial agricultural investments with greater efficiency, transparency, and inclusiveness.

The embassy also stated that 10,750 marginalised households benefit from access to rural land in Amhara, Benshangul-Gumuz and Gambella Regional States.

Air Force Rejects TPLF’s Claim Of Being Attacked By Drone Not Belonging To Defence Forces

The TPLF junta’s claim that it was attacked by a drone not belonging to the national defence forces is baseless, said the Ethiopian Air Force (EAF).

The air force equipped itself with technologies over the two years to safeguard the sovereignty of the country and ensure safety of citizens, said Maj Gen Yilma Merdasa, Commander of EAF.

The air force is currently fulfilling its responsibility of protecting the country’s airspace and providing support to the defence army, he said in an exclusive interview with FBC.

The air force destroyed targeted military facilities of the TPLF junta, he said, adding “We are doing this with the technology we have built. We don’t need help from anyone.”

Maj Gen Yilma further said that the air force destroyed fuel depots in Guiha, near Mekelle and Adigrat, as well as firearms smuggled by this irresponsible group.

Ethiopia Works In Cooperation With Sudan For Safety Of Displaced: Amb Yibeltal

In an exclusive interview with Sky News Arabia, Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan, Yibeltal Aemero affirmed that the ongoing law enforcement operaion in Tigray is an expected move from any responsible government that does not tolerate criminal activities that endanger wellbeing of its citizens and national sovereignty.

In this regard, it would be unwise to equate the law enforcement operation with unwarranted fear of escalation of conflicts across the region, Ambassador Yiebeltal stressed.

He said the Western part of Tigray is now free and people who had fled to Sudan from this area could be returned safely.

The Embassy is doing its level best in cooperation with the government of Sudan to closely follow the issues related to displaced people due to the law enforcement operation, he added, according to Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Webinar Discusses Status Of AU Facilitated GERD Negotiation

A webinar discussion was held yesterday on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

It was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia together with Ethiopian embassies in Algeria, Belgium, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Senior diplomats, think tanks, media houses and parliamentarians from various countries that the Ethiopian Ambassadors cover were present, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The presentation was conducted by two members of the Ethiopian negotiation team, Dr. Yohannes Gebretsadik and Ambassador Reta Alemu Nega.

The presentation focused on elaborating on the status of the current AU facilitated tripartite negotiation on the GERD.

Points of convergence and outstanding technical and legal issues were also explained. After the presentation, various questions and comments were raised from the participants which were tackled by the presenters.

Sudan Arrests TPLF Junta Militia Leader

The Sudanese army arrested a TPLF Junta militia leader fighting along with the rebels inside the Sudanese borders, accompanied by his family members and a huge amount of money and gold.

Reliable security sources told the Sudan Tribune on Monday that the military intelligence of the 2nd Infantry Division in Gedaref had spotted the militia commander, accompanied by dozens of soldiers and his personal protection team, along with his family in the Allaw border area in Al-Fashaqa locality.

The arrested group is suspected of being involved in attacks on Sudanese lands in the Greater Al-Fashaqa area inside the Sudanese territory.

It further said that the Sudanese forces found in his possession about 5 billion pounds, large quantities of gold, furniture and two luxury cars.

The Ethiopian authorities launched a manhunt on Sunday for leaders of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) who fled Mekelle on Saturday.
