*Ramadan is a blessed month*

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There has come to you Ramadaan, a blessed month which Allaah has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.”

Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 2106; Ahmad, 8769. classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 999.

Ramadan is the month of generosity ...

Ramadan is the month of good deeds and charity.

Muslims try to give generously and increase their good deeds.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was always a generous person, never owning more than just enough to cover his immediate needs. Any extra, he gave generously to those around him, however he was most generous in Ramadan.

Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was the most generous of people, and he used to be more generous than ever in Ramadan, when Jibrīl would meet him. He used to meet him every night during Ramadan to revise the Qur'an with him. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was more generous than the fast wind.

It was the month in which the greatest and most exalted of all divine books, the Holy Qur’an, was revealed: “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).” (Quran 2:185)

Ramadan is also the month when Muslims try to establish or re establish a relationship with the Quran. Although this may sound like a strange thing to say, the words of God are a guiding light and a mercy. Nobody reads Quran except that it changes his or her life in some way. The Quran was sent down in this month of Ramadan. The two, Ramadan and Quran are inextricably entwined. Being with the Quran, reading, memorising, reciting it or pondering its meanings is spiritually uplifting comforting and a source of strength. Recitation in the night is particularly beneficial, the distractions of the day have faded away and closeness of God is palpable in the stillness of the night.
Special evening prayers are conducted during which portions of the Qur'an are recited. These prayers are known as Taraweeh.

Ramadan is a celebration of God’s guidance to humanity, through the Quran, which is a guide for doing good and a warning against evil. In order to bring the soul into harmony with the Quranic ideals of belief and virtue, fasting is prescribed as a way for individuals to come closer to God and to lift their souls to new heights of piety. In doing so, the person is more able to transform himself into an agent of positive moral and social change that seeks to replace miserliness with generosity, anger with patience, in effect, replacing good with evil in the world.

Whoever fasts during the daylight hours and stands in prayer at night throughout this month will have his past sins forgiven,

as the Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

He also said, “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

It is a month of mercy, when God allows us to reap rewards that far outweigh any sins we may have accumulated throughout the year. Ramadan is a month filled with reminders of God’s generosity, kindness, and forgiveness. God forgives the faults and sins of humankind even though they may be as numerous as the froth of the sea.

As human beings we all fall short, commit sins and make mistakes. Sometimes the nature of life causes us to forget our real purpose.
and God in his infinite wisdom and mercy has given us Ramadan. It is a month, which if used wisely, can recharge our spiritual and physical batteries. It is a month full of mercy and forgiveness when God makes it easy for us to overcome our shortcomings, when He rewards us in abundance. He is our Creator, who knows that we are far from perfect. Therefore, He gives us great opportunities, and always opens the doors of hope for us.

Laylat-ul-Qadr (The Night of Decree; also called the Night of Power) occurs in this month. The Qur’an informs us that doing righteous deeds during this night is far better than doing them for many years: “The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.” (Soorat Al-Qadr, 97:3) A peroson who prays on this night out of sincere faith and in anticipation of Allah’s rewards in the hereafter will obtain Allah’s forgiveness of all past sins. This night falls on one of the last ten odd-numbered nights of Ramadaan.

The Taraweeh (Night Prayer)

⭐️The taraweeh is a special prayer performed in congregation. They stand shoulder to shoulder and bow their heads in submission.
As such, Ramadan always brings with it a strong communal atmosphere and ties between the community are strengthened greatly as a result.

🌺 In it Muslims pray to their Lord, standing, bowing and prostrating to Him, and gain the opportunity to listen to the Quran in its entirety, listening to its verses in a melodious voice .

🕌🕌 Some mosques have over a thousand worshippers who come from all over the city to attend.
Indeed it is an experience one awaits an entire year to experience.

Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever stands the night in prayer in Ramadan believing in God and seeking His reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.”(Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

⭐️Worshippers listen to the Quran being recited in prayer and ponder over its meanings, and the voice of the Imamhas much to do with the effect it has on people.
In various mosques, it is not rare to see people crying while listening to its verses, verses which speak of the blessings of God, His Mercy and Love, His Paradise which He has reserved for the patient believers, as well as verses which speak about the sufferings of Hell.

The feelings which arise while listening to its recitation is truly incomparable and indescribable.

⭐️At the end of the taraweeh prayer, the Imam and the congregation raise their hand 🤲in supplication to God for themselves and for the Muslims, asking God to forgive their sins, give them strength to practice their faith and remain firm, enter them into Paradise, to cure the sick, to forgive those who have already passed away, and all other good things of this world and the next.

They also ask God to save them from the punishment of the day of Judgment, to ease their account on that day, and also to ease the sufferings of their brethren throughout the world.

Indeed the taraweeh prayer is one of the highlights of Ramadan and plays a great role in giving inspiration to and the rectitude of the Muslims.

"Fasting in Ramadan
develops in a person the real spirit of social belonging, of unity and brotherhood, and of equality before God. This spirit is the natural product of the fact that when people fast they feel that they are joining the whole Muslim society (which makes up more than one fifth of world's population) in observing the same duty, in the same manner, at the same time, for the same motives, and for the same end.

The Festival of Fast Breaking (‛Eed-ul-Fitr)

‛Eed is a day of festivity and rejoicing. On this day, Muslims express their happiness and their gratitude to Allah for guiding them to the truth and for assisting them in completing the fast of Ramadan. They share happiness with everyone by putting on their best clothes, giving charity to the poor and the needy and engaging in permissible celebrations and festivities which make everyone happy and remind them of Allah’s favours upon them.

The Festival of Fast Breaking (‛Eed-ul-Fitr)
‛Eed-ul-Fitr falls on the first day of the lunar month of Shawwaal, marking the end of the month-long Ramadaan fast. Just as fasting during the month of Ramadaan is an act of worship, celebrating ‛Eed-ul-Fitris also an act of worship whereby Muslims express their gratitude to Allah for enabling them to perform this act of worship and for completing His grace upon them. As the Qur’an states, “You should complete the number of days and proclaim Allah’s greatness for the guidance He has given you so that you will be thankful.” (Soorat Al-Baqarah, 2:185)
What Should Be Done On the ‛Eed Day?

1-Offering the ‛Eed Prayer:

Muslims gather to pray the Ead prayer, mostly The Eid prayer is to be held outdoors in a large open ground,
And this prayer is one of the most important and beautiful actions on that day.

2- Paying Zakaat-ul-Fitr: Allah has enjoined zakaat-ul-fitr (literally, the purifying obligatory charity of the breaking of the fast) on anyone who possesses a day’s and night’s worth of food. It consists of one saa‛ of the most common staple food of the country, be it rice, wheat or dates, and must be given to the Muslim poor and needy so that there would be no person in need of food on the ‛Eed' .

Time of Its Payment: Zakaat-ul-fitr is to be paid from the time the sun sets on the last day of Ramadaan up to the time of the ‛Eed prayer. It may, however, be paid a day or two before the ‛Eed day as well.

3-Muslims on this occasion : spread joy and merriment to all family members, young and old, men and women, providing all possible types of lawful amusements. They wear their best and most beautiful clothes and eat and drink, as doing so is an act of worship. Fasting on this day is strictly forbidden.

4-They recite the : takbeer on this special occasion on the night preceding the ‛Eed day and on the way to the ‛Eed prayer, and continue doing so until the imaam appears for the‛Eed prayers starts, expressing gratitude to Allah ﷻ for enabling them to complete the fast of Ramadaan. The Qur’an states, “He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful.” (Quran 2:185)

The manner of takbeer pronounced on this occasion is as follows: Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, walillaahil-hamd (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; there is no god worthy of worship except Allah; Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; all praise belongs to Allah).
