The study looked at young people with COVID-19 vaccine-associated myocarditis (C-VAM) and compared them with 100 cases of multisystemic inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). The majority of C-VAM patients were male and developed symptoms such as chest pain and elevated troponin levels after the second dose of vaccine.

Although the clinical symptoms were mild in most cases and those affected recovered quickly, 82% of cases showed cardiac damage due to “late gadolinium enhancement” (LGE) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

This damage persisted in 60% of cases even after six months.
