my sister didn’t realise until last year that she’d been a bully in high school of the mean girl variety. she’s 23 years old. if you think all harm has to be intentional for it to count you’re kind of missing the part where this shit happens all the time. nobody goes around thinking they’re being evil. sometimes they do shit that sucks and nobody calls them out on it and they go home and find ways to justify it to themselves in their head. causing harm + ‘being a bad person’ + fucking up on purpose are all independent variables source

a phrase that kinda bothers me when talking about women's historical roles in europe is "cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children." you hear it so often, those exact words in the same order even. and once you learn a little more you realize that the massive gaping hole in that list is fiberwork. im not an expert and have no hard numbers, but i wouldnt be surprised if fiberwork took up nearly as much time as the other three tasks combined, so it's not a trivial omission. source

“kids spend too much time on their devices” well what else are they supposed to do? there’s no corner shops with pinball machines in them on every corner anymore. there’s no malls or stores in small towns for teens to hang out in without being suspected of shoplifting or kicked out for loitering. sidewalks are too broken for them to ride their bikes and there’s no bike lane in the street to make it safe for them. i just don’t understand where they expect these kids to go when they keep taking places away from them. and yes having no safe public places for them is what leads a lot of teens into addiction if they end up at a place where people aren’t truly looking out for them. source
