*IF WE'LL ENJOY GRACE*

*Galatians 2:21*
_I do not frustrate the grace of God:_

Apostle Paul didn't have the privilege of meeting Christ in person like the other Apostles. That didn't deter him to grow into dimensions of the supernatural, pouring out revelations after revelations, whose writing sets in most of the doctrines for the church today. Paul is everyone of us today: who love to go deep with the Spirit in search of rhema, who like to pray in strange tongues and be set on fire for God. We really want to see the power of God at work in our lives. This is great. Yes, _"for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom"_ (Lk.12:32). It's the delight of our Heavenly Father to see us set on fire for Him beyond the dimensions we operate in, yet there is too little space we allow Him to work with.

First, we need to allow God to introduce us in seasons. To introduce us to His plans, God brings us into a process of training and testing. Understand that God won't use what He has not proven (Ps 105:19). What He proposes for us, He prepares us for. So, after his encounter at the gate of Damascus, which was followed by his powerful testimonies and works for God, Paul would be spending three years at the Arabian desert learning the things of the Spirit (Gal.1:16-18). Every man of grace has a measure of sacrifice and training for it.

Secondly, we must not interrupt the process. If we're in the school of the Spirit, our flesh will struggle to keep up with the demands of our trainings. Jesus told us, our spirits are willing to comply but our flesh is weak. But I've come to realised we're at utmost best when we've been stretched. Everyone who fasted in the Bible and look vulnerable on the outside, went on to wax with greater power from the inside. Moses, Elijah, Jesus were men of unusual power who did mighty exploits for God. Our brokenness by Him creates the channel for the installation of grace in us.
Yes, God brings you to your best at your worst for Him.

*Note this:* _It is the crushed grapes that produces the wine._

*Declare:* _Lord, help me to tarry with You; give me the grace to be patient and to persevere so I can see Your grace at work in my life._

*IN THE SEASON OF CORRECTIONS*

*Joshua 7:10*
_The Lord said to Joshua, β€œStand up! What are you doing down on your face?_ (NIV).

A humiliating defeated has just happened to Israel shortly after the thumping of Jericho. It was unnecessary, embarrassing and cheap. Israel was overconfident; the odds were in their favour. But the unexpected struck like a nightmare because of a compromise. Achan had gone against God's instruction, stealing stuffs out of the bounties of war in Jericho. While no one knew of this, God saw it all. And though, it was a one man's action, the whole nation was going to suffer its consequences. This is one terrible thing about sin. It's one person's action with many affected by it.

What we learnt from this incidence is, where God's instruction is compromised, God retreats. He's not constrained to our ways, and we'll always be at loss undermining His will for us. This is what happens each and every time we fall short of His expectations. We can be confident doing our own things even when we transgress His law, hiding under grace. But a defeat soon awakens us into a sad reality. However, in our lowest moments of grief and hurt, God is most gracious. It is defeat that bends us down, but mercy always picks us up.

Joshua and Israel's elders, fell flat on their faces in repentance, crying for mercy (Josh.7:6), and God responded by releasing grace for help in their time of need (Heb.4:16). In the season of correction, our first response to God's rebuke is repentance; turning away from our own ways back to Him. It is not enough to be sorry because being sorry is not the same as repentance. One can be sorry but is unrepentant. Repentance deals with a change of heart and attitude. God's recommendation remains: " _If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land"_ (2Chron.7:14).

*Note this:* _What defeat bends, mercy straightens._
*Declare:* _Father, I repent of my wrongdoings today. Please show me mercy and help me to rise again in victory!_

*Luke 15:18*
_I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,_

Accelerating on a road that leads nowhere is not only unwise, it is time and energy wasting. We can choose to accept defeat and retreat to restrategise and win ultimately or march on to a voidable destruction. We can choose to accept we're wrong, make that turn to the table of reconciliation or we mindlessly ride on to unnecessary misery. Why hang on with the toga of misery when you can actually wear the crown of mercy and favour? I tell you. It is ego and unforgiving spirit. Ego makes you feel you're infallible, unforgiving spirit helps nurture an offence to full blown bitterness, and together they create in one person a villain and victim. A villain likes to win every debate, while a victim always scouts for human pity.

Another aspect to this is feeling you're too messed up to go back, or even being right in your own eyes; especially if like the prodigal son, you're in a company that takes pleasure in fanning your ego. If you follow that company, they'll cheer your unwise decision calling it chivalry to your ultimate fall like Absalom. But, no matter how far you've travelled down that road, the place of reconciliation is never far from reach. The bloated ego of the prodigal could keep him looking for unhealthy choices, forgoing the prosperity of his own soul, but thank God he came to himself and returned home.

Every time a man turns to God, God turns to Him and cause everything to turn for him. One of the many ministries Christ gave us is the ministry of reconciliation. It begins with accepting responsibility for one's wrong whether towards God or man, and finding ways to resolve them. There is peace and wholeness in reconciliations.

*Note this:* _The table of reconciliation is never too full for the one suing for peace._

*Declare:* _Lord, teach me to accept my faults when I'm wrong and help me to make the necessary corrections that bring peace and wholeness._

*Judges 16:22*
_But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved._

The story of Samson is an interesting read. It shows that with the right attitude, a terrible situation can still have a victorious end. Born a Nazirite and empowered by God to judge Israel, his unshaven hair was his anointing, the symbol of his strength and might with which he decimated the Philistines. Samson was a solitary fighter, and for forty years, he fought and broke the Philistine's dominance over Israel. Samson's hair was golden, without which he was just some nice guy down the street. But Samson drifted. Fallen into Delilah's deceit, Samson's hair was gone, so was his strength and might. When the enemy comes for us, his only interest is what matters most to us; our sanctification and anointing without which we're just like any other fellow down the street.

Just as we have a common faith so do we have a common enemy. Satan's desire it to stain the believers robe so we can loose our crown, the anointing (Lev.8:9). The anointing is our symbol of strength and might. What's on our head hurts the adversary. However, our choices can impact its effectiveness. It's sanctification that sustains the flow of the oil. A drifting ultimately leads to the drop in the flow of the oil. This is why Satan can stand to resist the believer's authority.

Fallen but redeemed, Samson's hair grew back again, replenishing his anointing so that at his death he'd killed more Philistines than when he was alive. This is awesome. It means if God replenishes your anointing or strength now, you can still go ahead to achieve so much more than you have all year. If you can believe and reach out like Samson to God, you can still do so much and even more as the year dies out. And I say a shocker awaits your enemies because your strength and might are about to be replenished in full. It's not over yet. Your story will have a sweeter ending in Jesus name!

*Note this:* _What we can achieve with God's mercy is unimaginable!_

*Declare:* _Lord, I reach out to You for mercy, refill me with fresh oil today for there's still much more to be done this year!_

*1Kings 18:30*
_And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down_

In our return to doing the right thing, the altar is correctly the first place to go. Why is this so?

_Firstly, the altar is the place of encounters_ . Our stories can swipe with positive changes when our path crosses with that of the Most High. Encounters with God is the breeding ground for the transformation of man. Our minds are rewired and our spirits, stretched to unreached dimensions of faith and exploits.

_Secondly, altars are for sacrifices_ , and sacrifices have the ability to change the movement of the wind in favour of your destiny (2Kng.3:27). Sacrifices are rare offerings with strange outcomes. Notice that Elijah graciously offered water that was the rarest thing in the land. He needed rain during drought and he offered water!

_Thirdly, there was the sound of abundance of rain._ Miracles easily respond to sacrifice (Ps.50:5). There is nothing that's not possible where a sacrifice is unstoppable. There's rain in your sky. It is your altar that brings them down

_Lastly, to secure our miracles we must first get down to repair our broken altars._ No sacrifice stays steady on broken altars. It's time to fix what's out of place in your worship and devotion to God because when there's order there's bound to be some wonders.

*Note this:* _when your altar is repaired you'll be preferred!_

*Declare:* _Lord, as I return to repair my broken altars, please release to me my preferred miracles in Jesus name_ !

*WALKING WITH GOD*

*Proverbs 3:5&6*
_Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths._

There's a little story of a young believer telling God, "You promised You're coming with me but I can't see You anywhere around me."
"Yes, indeed," the Lord replied. "And I've been here with you all along."
The child retorted, "But how comes I can't see you anywhere around me?"
The Lord said to him, "Look all the way down there and tell me whose footprints you can see."
A careful look by this believer showed only unusually large footprints on the sand with his, obviously missing, and the Lord assured him, "Those are my footmarks. You can't see yours because I've been the One carrying you all along."

We all want assurances from God of His ever abiding presence. David said, " _Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me."_ But how do you trust on a God you can't see?
God said to trust in Him with all your heart, doubting nothing. When a bank is robbed, you don't go checking if it's your money that was taken because you know it's the bank's business to safe keep your money regardless of what happens. God wants you to be at rest, putting your confidence trust on Him completely even if there are storms around.

_Secondly_ , He wants you to rely on his instructions and counsels even when they don't seem to make sense. When God is at work, He doesn't need your techniques or methods. He only wants your submission.
_Lastly,_ acknowledge Him in all things. How exactly? Well, God wants you pointing every performance to Him. Moses refused to sanctify(acknowledge) God before Israel at the waters of meribah and that alone meant his disqualification from entering Canaan (Num.20:12). God wants you telling people who's the boss and whose performance it is. Yes, He's given us brains to think, and that's one of His masterpiece and the world of conceited, boastful men must know about this. _"So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy"_ (Rom.9:16). When all of these is at work, you can be sure that He's guiding you on the right paths.

*Note this:* _Where you can't trace Him, trust Him._

*Declare:* _Father, thank You for those large footprints on the tracks of my destiny. Even when I can't see them, please keep reassuring me that you're still here with me._

*SPIRITUAL ISOLATION*

*Eccl. 4:12*
_Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break_ (GNB).

Satan understands the danger being a lone believer poses to such believer. He does not want congregation, he only wants isolation. When he marks an individual for destruction, he starts separating them from the rest. Even in the wild, the big cats catch their prey by tactically separating them from the herd before pouncing on them. When God wanted to deal with transgressors, He first isolated them from the congregation. Koran and his rebellious gang, Miriam and Achan and family are great examples.
Dinah and Tamar were victims of rape simply because they'd walked out of the camp of safety, even Judas' betrayal of Christ began the moment he left the others.

Isolation in the Church today begins with just an Offence. We start pulling out when we feel we've been wronged. However, a closer look at what we call offences are just some slight misunderstandings. But when the enemies wants to steal your blessings and hurt your destiny, he poisons your mind against the church or even its Pastor then drives you solo into avoidable pits of troubles. There is also spiritual apathy; a dry desire for personal devotion leading to a drop in fellowship. If allowed, Satan can use money and clothes to pull his target out. He whispers to them that they don't belong here, they don't have the clothes and money or they're not connecting with the others in church. And like a bang, he hits his targets badly with oppressions.

Whatever reasons you make up for yourself to keep away from personal devotions and fellowships, look closely, they're no genuine reasons. Understand this, once the enemy of your faith is prowling around your faith and destiny, you'll find many more reasons to defend your actions of isolation.

*Note this* : _Satan doesn't want congregation, he only wants isolation._

*Declare* : _I resist and banish every scheme to pull me away from others, making me an easy target for oppression in Jesus name!_

*STANDING ON YOUR CONVICTION*

*Ephesians 6:13*
_So put on God's armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground_ GNB.

What's the driving force for every vision if not conviction? Notice that you may not have all the details to run or fight with, but a little conviction can spur you into action. It's the same reason why you're still holding on. Conviction is what makes challenges taste like fun. Or why would you be subjected to cold treatments, delays and faults and you're still holding on? Paul spoke of his own bucket lists of the tests and trials in all of his missionary trips. Yet, like one possessed of some strange spirits, he kept on pushing and reaching forth with his gospel, winning cities and cities for Christ. Of course, conviction makes you look possessed. And if people struggle to understand your passion and zeal, they'll conclude you're beside yourself. If you ever get that remark, take it as compliment. People discard what they don't understand.

I am writing this to shore up your courage as the year wears out. Notice the last line of our text: _"and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground."_ This is the Good News Bible. King James puts it this way: _"and having done all, to stand."_ If you've done all that's in your heart or schedules to do, whether you've grab all you want or not, just stand in there. This is what conviction does to you. It steadies in your feet, and builds in resistance against backing down in the face of strong oppositions and frustration. Hear this: Success tastes better when backed in the oven of challenges. And conviction is the pan on which it toasts.

Many will finish the race, and finish well this year. Many will have the best laugh this year. Miscarriages will suddenly turn pregnancies and waiting will become manifestations. Many heads will be lifted up in victory, with their hands full of medals lifted up to the praise of our God. It's your conviction that will count you in. By my own conviction of God's plans, the tides will turn in your favour even at the twilight of the year.

*Note this:* _Conviction is: I shall, I will, I can, because I know._

*Declare:* I _am convinced, He who began a great work in me is faithful and shall thoroughly complete it this year to the praise of His name!_

*OBEDIENCE AND LAST MINUTE INTERVENTION*

*Luke 5:5*
_"Sir," Simon replied, "we worked hard all last night and didn't catch a thing. But if you say so, we'll try again."_ (TLB)

You could picture the shock on the face of Peter and his fishing crew when they were told to try again after a fruitless toil all night. These guys were fishing experts. Their verdict on fishing expeditions must be final. But when expertise has failed, an intervention will be desperately needed. _"...Master, we have toiled, all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net"_ (KJV). They could simply ignore who was talking and walked away not minding what last minute miracle was beckoning at them that morning.

This is the case for many who have stayed restricted within the confines of science and have refused to let their minds be stretched by 'untested' but inspired thoughts. But many more with open minds and humble hearts would accept one more nudging outside their learning to try again and end up walking away with breathtaking miracles.

When all else has failed and you look overwhelmed, always remember, Peter said " _At thy word I will let down the net."_ Everything else may fail but not a jot of His word will. The Lord said, " _For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it"_ (Isa.55:10&11). If it didn't work by your expertise it will by the Word of God. Your obedience to the word is what activates the intervention for your breakthrough.

*Note this:* _an intervention is needed where expertise has failed!_

*Declare:* _Lord, it is not over for me yet. At Your word, I am trying again for my last minute miracle._

*OBEDIENCE AND LAST MINUTE INTERVENTION 2*

*John 2:5*
_His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever, he saith unto you, do it._

If we are desperate for an intervention at a dying minute, we'll surely be willing to do anything we're asked to do; especially when it's a face saving one. However, when what seems like a ridiculous instruction is given and we cannot rationalise it, we are likely to either decline or follow through with serious doubt. Little wonder when Mary had spoken to Jesus to do something about the lack of wine at the wedding reception, she turned to the waiting ushers and warned them in the most affirmed way, _"whatsoever he saith unto you, do it."_ Did she know what was coming? Perhaps, it was to prepare the minds of the ushers, because what followed after was an astounding instruction you'd ever had heard.

How do you tell people to serve water when what's needed is wine? Isn't that a joke of the century? But hear this: what turned the water in those pots to wine wasn't Jesus' instruction, but the obedience of the ushers. Every time they bent over to draw from the pots, their obedience was having an irreversible effect, supernaturally on their contents

Many times, why we fall short on the word of God is because we try to rationalise it. Please understand that our minds are too limited to fully grasp His words. _"For we know in part and we prophesy in part"_ (1Cor.13:9). And even the things we know are by the help of the Holy Spirit (John16:13).
Secondly, we fall short on the word of God because we expect Him to come to our level. His desire is to help us reach His height and become like Him. To achieve that, He ministers to our spirits which are elastic and can stretch to higher dimensions of grace and power. So, if you want a miracle this season, the onus is on your obedience to His 'ridiculous' instructions. Whatever He asks you to do, just do it!

*Note this:* _when the instruction is ridiculous, expect the act to be miraculous._

*Declare:* _Father, whatever you're demanding from me this season for my miracle, I receive the grace to obey._

*THERE IS NO ROOM*

*Luke 2:7*
_and she gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the village inn_ TLB.

It was the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus, which took place in the most humble manner. Joseph and Mary had travelled to their home town of Bethlehem for a nationwide census when the pregnant Mary was due for delivery. Looking around for a lodge in the village to shelter her as they welcome their firstborn son was the most difficult experience for her next to the stress of her pregnancy. A breakthrough finally came. And in all places, it was in a manger in a stable. Can you beat that? One can imagine the surprised look on the face of the stable manager when he found out what was happening on his manger. But that was the only 'room' available for the birth of Christ.

What if the inn operator knew what manner of Child was about to be born? What if he realised the Saviour of his soul was in the pregnancy of the woman he just turned back because business was booming and he was making all the money? Wouldn't he be glad to freely offer his office or his home or even get one of the guests to vacate their room for baby Jesus? You bet that many would jump into such golden opportunity.

Today, as we celebrate Christmas, that opportunity is here for us all. But how many will go on celebrating without a room in their hearts for Jesus? Christmas is the single, biggest celebration the world over. Many like the inn operator will be busy making merchandise of the occasion, and partying all night, yet for the Jesus they don't know. All Christ needs is a room, and we can help open more doors in the hearts of the unsaved and the have-not amongst us by sharing our meals and gifts with them.

*THIS MAN JESUS*

*Mark 4:41*
_And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man, is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?_

Prior to the coming of Jesus, other great men had walked on this earth doing mighty things. Some by the power of God, others by sorceries. The difference between Jesus and them is beyond measure, for none of these except Christ was unveiled as the God's blueprint for the salvation of the world.

Christ, a man approved of God as the Saviour of the world, was God's perfect remedy for sin and all its consequences. _"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world"_ (John 1:). It was Him, who through death satisfied the wrath of God towards sin, and reconciled us to God (Col.2:11). This is possible because Christ was all of God in man. He was all Divinity in Humanity. Paul said this of Him, _"For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form"_ (Col.2:9). So, of His nature, we have no doubt about it. He'd been with God from the beginning, creating the world (Jn. 1:1-5).

This is the reason He could walk on water, fed multitudes with few loaves of bread and a couple of fish, raised the dead back to life, and did other miracles so much that the religious leaders of His time struggled to contain Him. And the good news is, " _You have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority"_ (Col.2:10). We have the fullness of Him as He had the fullness of God. What it means is, we have the same ability to be today on earth, what Christ was in His time here. And this is made possible by the Spirit of God which dwells in us, ordaining us to be like Christ amongst men.

*Note this*
_Christ in us is the hope for a glorious eternity._

*THE AMAZING GRACE*

Ephesians 3:8
_Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me...(NIV)_ __

Little happenings can tell big stories. And the big story here is of the conversion of John Newton, the man who wrote that symbolic hymn - Amazing Grace.
John was groomed for the British Navy, but was an undisciplined soldier. Once arrested for desertion, John was flogged and demoted. He was known for scoffing at authority and mocking the Christian crew members for their faith. And one night he awoke and found water filling in his cabin with that section of the ship collapsing. Such incident would normally cause a damage, sinking a vessel within minutes. John even heard a sailor shouting "we're all goners!" but miraculously, a stand-by cargo helped prevent their ship from going down the sea. That night, as his life flashed before his eyes, John repented and gave his heart to Christ. Not long, the inspiration came for that hymn, Amazing Grace!

Do you feel helpless, sinking away in sin or in some undisciplined life styles? Perhaps, you'd tried to change and your trials seem like a mockery before your very eyes. You may look rubbished but you're not finished where there is grace. Grace is an amazing thing. Just a confession and repentance, then there's a redemption. Just like that!

" _Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; this grace hath brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home."_

This grace is unfathomable! We'll never understand it. This is why a Saul who was a marauding monster against the Church, would turn out to be one used by God to establish more churches. No! We'll never understand it! And because there's grace, you still stand a chance of living your best life ever.

*Note this*
_You may look rubbished but you're not finished when grace finds you._

*Declare*
_I may never understand why You love me this way, but Lord, I am grateful. And because grace has found me, I'm living my best life ever._

*ARE YOU TRYING TO GET EVEN?*

*Romans 12:19*
_Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. β€œI’ll do the judging,” says God. β€œI’ll take care of it.”_ (TM)

_Max Lucado_ once wrote of an incidence of a Rottweiler (dog) that attacked his puppy at a dog kennel, injuring the puppy, leaving her with a badly wounded ear that was left dangling. Max wrote to the owner of the kennel demanding that the rottweiler be killed since it posed as a threat. The kennel owner begged Max with these words: _"What that dog did was horrible, but I'm still training him and I'm not finished with him yet."_

That was a touching and reasonable response and I think it is the same thing the Lord would say about the person who hurts you. The Lord would say things like, _"What they did is inexcusable but I'm not finished with them yet."_

If we bear this in mind, it will be needless to try to seek revenge when we're hurt. Revenge only satisfies the lust for power and the thirst to try to be even. Revenge is like telling God, " _You're not handling things well, you're not punishing them sufficiently neither are you moving fast enough."_ Seeking revenge is trying to superimpose God.

David had the opportunity to balance aggression with the life of King Saul, but he wouldn't lift a finger against God's anointed (1Sam.26). You know why? David didn't see Saul _the enemy_ , he saw Saul _the anointed._ In the words of Prof. Iyiola Tella, _"I see and honour God in every of His children."_ If this is our perception, we'll leave the place of justice to Him who can adjudicate it properly. The year is almost over, this is a good time to sheathe swords and sue for peace.

*Note this*
_Keeping scores is refusing old wounds to heal._

*Declare*
_Lord, I forgive every wrong done, and let go any thought of revenge so that old wounds can make way for new beginnings for me in Jesus name!_
