With Germany's back up against the wall with Russia, what is the most sensible thing to do? Declare war on the USA of course! And with no second thought or preparation. What an insanely stupid thing to do when you're already fighting the largest army the world had ever seen, along with the UK, France and a slew of other European nations.

Napoleon rose after the French Revolution.
Hitler rose after Germany’s defeat in World War I and the instability of the Weimar Republic.
In both cases, social chaos helped enable their ascent.

5. Use of Nationalism
Napoleon promoted French national glory.
Hitler promoted an extreme racialized German nationalism.
National pride was central to legitimizing their rule and wars.

6. Legal and Institutional Restructuring
Napoleon implemented the Napoleonic Code, reshaping European legal systems.
Hitler restructured German institutions to serve the Nazi state (though far more ideologically rigid and destructive).

7. Overreach and Strategic Failure
Both launched disastrous campaigns against Russia.

It's important to understand that Germany and Russia were allies. It throws a wrench in the spokes of the neo-Nazi narratives about WW2 being about it being Nazism vs Communism—both nations were SOCIALISTS. Watch this documentary and tell me that the Nazi admin didn't march them into certain death. It was a stupid plan from the start and the lack of preparation was completely uncharacteristic of the German military. This operation wasn't even a plan, it was just a haphazard thrust forward to Moscow.
