It's quite significant that so many of the great poets and authors of the early 20th Century - Yeats, Pound, Kipling, Lovecraft, Lewis, Eliot - were all racist antisemites.

The cultural trajectory of modernism was initially profoundly racialist. The effect of WWII upon Western culture cannot be understated - in its aftermath, the institutions which maintained Western 'high culture' were totally captured by its ideological meaning. Racialism was thus pushed out of refined, elite society and into the underground.

What was once a worldview cultivated and presided over by many of the great artists and intellectuals of its time became stripped of all its prior prestige, funding, institutional support or access to fame.

Western culture was racist as fuck when it was created by well educated, sophisticated White men who created art and literature for a well educated and sophisticated White social elite mutually free from the post-WWII ideological consensus. Racist in a sophisticated way. And that is the culture we would have inherited if the calamity of WWII and the ideological reconstruction of Western society and politics around the pathologisation of National Socialism didn't occur.

This is why I reject explanations of our mass racial and civilizational suicide upon "Modernity" or some even more primordial force. There was a racist modernism we could have had, and it would have been epic. And it still will be if we can somehow retrieve it from the furnace of the 20th Century's cruel twists of fate.

By the time the Ustasha Youth organization was formed, Fascist Italy and National Socialist Germany had organized and educated their youth for more than a decade. Thus the Ustashas appropriated some of their features, ideas, and practices while simultaneously adapting them to their somewhat different national and social context.

The Ustasha Youth organization was tasked with providing the youth with new education, with a new worldview, so as to create the ideal ‘new’ Croat – the Ustasha. Education, sport, manual work, camping, separately established Ustasha schools, and transnational connections with other fascist youth organizations all had the purpose of immersing the youth into this ‘new reality’. Paris tech investors and entrepreneurs are "scared to death" about the prospective election of Marine Le Pen, an extremist politician who has strong chances of becoming the next French president.

"She is a fascist," said a partner at one of France's leading venture capital firms, speaking to Business Insider. "It's very different from the populism you see in England, because she's absolutely anti-capitalist. She's a pure socialist — that way she's closer to fascism. It's xenophobia, plus socialism."

Marine Le Pen is often likened to US president Donald Trump or former UKIP leader Nigel Farage. She is the leader of France's Front National, an anti-immigration and anti-EU party which regards the racist BNP in the UK as its sister party.

Unlike Trump, however, Le Pen is anti-capitalist and this, along with her anti-immigration rhetoric, makes her a worrying candidate for France's tech industry. "She wants to get back to a state-owned economy," noted one venture capitalist.

Didier Rappaport, the CEO of dating app Happn, attributed Le Pen's rise to a failure of politics. "A large part of France does not like the way France is going," he said. "They have no choice but the extremes."
