Lately, I do not feel like myself. The problem is, I no longer know what that even means, because I am not entirely sure what “myself” looks like anymore.
The only real constant in my life for a long time now, has been change.
My awakening journey began fourteen years ago, and when I look back, I can see that I have gone through many different stages of transformation. In the beginning, those stages seemed to last a long time, sometimes a year or two. Then, with time, they became shorter. What once took years began to take months, then weeks, and lately it feels as though I am not quite the same person from one day to the next.
It is hard to explain, but I am sharing it in the hope that some of you might relate.
For a long time, I felt that all this change was shaping me into a better version of myself. Wiser, kinder, more patient, more understanding, less judgmental. I have always tried to better myself, always tried to grow through what life showed me, but lately it no longer feels like that. The change does not feel like improvement anymore. It just feels like change for the sake of change, as though something in me is constantly shifting and I can no longer find solid ground.
Sometimes I do not even know how I feel about anything anymore. So I take it one day at a time. I try not to overanalyse it, although that is easier said than done, because overthinking has always been part of my nature. For now, I am simply going with the flow as best I can, suspended in a kind of lull, a strange in between space that I do not fully understand.
I do not know whether the frequency of the world is changing, and whether those of us who are perhaps more sensitive to things are changing with it, to the point where we no longer understand why we feel the way we do. There is an unease in it, something uncomfortable and unsettling, something difficult to name. It just feels strange.
So I try to focus on the only things in my life that I know for certain are real; my children, my family and the people I love. That is where I place my attention, because after more than a decade of discovering that so much of what we were told was false, manipulated or incomplete, there comes a point where the soul grows tired of digging.
It no longer feels to me as though this is about searching for more answers. I have been down more rabbit holes than I can count. I have looked into things most people would never even dare to question. And yes, all of that changes you. It teaches you discernment. It forces you to unlearn and makes you see reality through a very different lens. But I also think there comes a point where you begin to realise that there is a ceiling to what we can truly understand from where we stand.
There are truths about humanity, about our history, about this universe and the nature of existence itself, that feel just beyond reach. You sense them, you circle them, you catch glimpses of them, but you cannot quite get there.
And perhaps that is where I am now. Not in the searching, but in the waiting.
Waiting, and praying, that one day truth, in its fullest sense, will come to us. That one day the veil will lift, and what has remained hidden from humanity for so long will finally be known.
Until then, perhaps all we can do is keep going, keep loving those closest to us, keep faith, and accept that some seasons of life are not about clarity, but about endurance. Trusting that even when we cannot see the path, we are still being guided along it, and that clarity will return when it is meant to.
