probably the two most interesting related comments.
impressive how quiet the "search" engines are on this topic.

it's interesting, because AI is clearly destined to become the customer to pay for the energy transition. hence, it becomes profitable because of AI. and AI will operate the clearinghouse relating to that energy.
it's a perfect, circular argument.
the ethic calls for the energy transition
the energy transition will build the infrastructure
AI depends on that infrastructure, operates it, in fact
the clearing function transitions to AI and enforces the ethic
and the ethic the enforces even more of the same
the system is its own customer, enforcer, and justification. there's no need for democratic debate, because public money - supposedly - is not involved.
that is, until all the AI companies goes *bang* due to unsustainable spending... and get bailed out by the taxpayer due to 'national security' (ie, china)

ah yes, but that doesn't actually matter. because, as per above material from Waddesdon, the AI data centers will drive the 'clean energy' demand.
see, energy now come both in 'green' and 'brown' flavours. who decides what's what?
the clearinghouse, of course. and they work on basis of the standards determined by the EU taxonomy standards which soon will be imposed on the uk and gradually the rest of the world.

if i could be bothered, i’d write an essay on ‘Survival of Spaceship Earth’.
It’s got it all. Loyalty to the planet, science as the ethic, ‘I personally feel that one of the most important incentives that we can have is to increase the price of energy‘, ‘delegate a part of the sovereignty… to an international organization, to the United Nations‘, ‘The enlightened components of the establishment have become aware of the urgency of the environmental problem‘… but what stands out, in my book, is that it’s the first of these terrible doom porn propaganda productions I’ve seen which mention the 1972 US-USSR Cooperation on Environmental Protection.

We’ve discussed this treaty before — but that’s no reason to let it go.

the way to beat a clearinghouse isn’t to confront it directly, it’s to create conditions where its own rules contradict each other

what he promises is 'subsidiarity' which is the clearinghouse in reverse. who decides to what level matters should be 'decentralised', exactly?

just watched the entire series of terminator movies. oh boy, genisys and salvation truly are awful. anyway, what i picked up from each:
terminator 1 introduces us to the future ai-driven robots
terminator 2 told us no fate but what we make
terminator 3 told us skynet didnt have one computer - it was every computer
terminator salvation told us it was what we trust has been utterly compromised
terminator genisys told us about the surveillance data streams
terminator dark fate told us the pattern is a fractal and cannot be destroyed by just destroying skynet
seems very apt, given what's taking place at present.
