Iranian New Year is just around the corner. With only days remaining to the end of the current Iranian year, people are busy preparing themselves for the arrival of Nowruz or the Persian New Year.

Iranians give their homes a thorough spring clean in the days leading up to Nowruz. They even buy themselves at least one new outfit so that they too feel fresh and rejuvenated. Buying seven items starting with letter S known as Haft-Seen is also another part of the Nowruz traditions.

For Iranians, Nowruz is a celebration of renewal and change, a time to visit relatives and friends, and pay respect to senior family members. But they don't ever forget their loved ones who died the previous years. Accordingly on the last Thursday and Friday of the year they visit the graves of their deceased ones to pay respect to them once again. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly recognized March 21 as the International Day of Nowruz, describing it as a spring festival of Persian origin which world countries should draw on to promote peace and goodwill.

🔆 You definitely know what the picture shows: a gulf, that is a large area of sea that is partly surrounded by land; just for your information, the picture is that of the Persian Gulf.

🌀 It is very interesting to know that you can use the word gulf to talk about a large difference between two people or groups. Look at the two examples below:

🅰️ The gulf between rich and poor is getting larger and larger every day.

🅱️ It felt as if a gulf had opened up between his life and mine.

🌉 You can also bridge the gulf between A and B. For example, one can bridge the gulf between theory and practice.
