Sorting algorithms are really crucial to learn. We all care about the time complexity (Big O) or space complexity. We use merge sort and quick sort because they have lower time complexity compared to others.

What about the worst sorting algorithm?

BOGO sort (monkey sort) is famous because of its terrible time complexity. The worst case time complexity (Big Theta) is INFINITE! "Sorting" works like this: the given array is shuffled randomly until it's accidently sorted. This is crazy! We just sit down expecting it to be sorted...
Computing for Computer Scientists

CS106B - Programming Abstractions

This
course is the natural successor to Programming Methodology and covers such advanced programming topics as recursion, algorithmic analysis, and data abstraction using the C++ programming language, which is similar to both C and Java. If you've taken the Computer Science AP exam and done well (scored 4 or 5) or earned a good grade in a college course, Programming Abstractions may be an appropriate course for you to start with, but often Programming Abstractions (Accelerated) is a better choice. Programming Abstractions assumes that you already have familiarity with good programming style and software engineering issues (at the level of Programming Methodology), and that you can use this understanding as a foundation on which to tackle new topics in programming and data abstraction.

As the 3rd year of studies is about to start, I have started considering getting Master's degree, and asked GPT what should I do in order to do it. Here I am sharing the results, and hope that it will be helpful for you:

Getting accepted into a Master's program at a US university, especially in the field of IT and software engineering, requires careful planning and preparation. Here are some steps you can take to increase your chances of being accepted:

Research Programs: Start by researching different universities and Master's programs that align with your interests and career goals. Look for universities with strong IT and software engineering departments.

Check Admission Requirements: Each university and program might have specific admission requirements. Common requirements include a completed bachelor's degree (in a relevant field), transcripts, letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, and standardized test scores (such as the GRE or TOEFL/IELTS for international students).

Maintain a Strong GPA: A good academic record is crucial. Many programs have a minimum GPA requirement, and a higher GPA will make your application more competitive.

Prepare for Standardized Tests: If the program requires standardized tests like the GRE, start preparing early. Consider taking preparatory courses or using study materials to perform well on the test.

Letters of Recommendation: Obtain strong letters of recommendation from professors, employers, or professionals who can attest to your academic and professional abilities.

Statement of Purpose (SOP): Your SOP is a critical part of your application. Clearly articulate your reasons for pursuing the Master's program, your career goals, and how the program aligns with your aspirations. Highlight your relevant skills and experiences.

Work Experience: While not always required, having relevant work experience in IT or software engineering can significantly strengthen your application. It demonstrates practical skills and a commitment to the field.

Research Experience: If you have been involved in research projects, highlight them in your application. Research experience can showcase your analytical and problem-solving skills.

Tailor Your Application: Customize your application materials for each university. Explain why you are a good fit for their program and how their resources can help you achieve your goals.

Networking: Connect with professors, professionals, or alumni associated with the programs you're interested in. Networking can provide insights into the program and even lead to recommendations.

Financial Planning: Consider the cost of tuition and living expenses. Research scholarship and funding opportunities to help ease the financial burden.

Deadlines: Pay close attention to application deadlines and ensure you submit all required materials on time. Some universities offer early decision or rolling admissions, so applying early can be advantageous.

Portfolio (if applicable): For IT and software engineering programs, having a portfolio showcasing your coding projects, software development, or other relevant work can be beneficial.

Interviews: Some programs might require interviews as part of the selection process. Prepare for these by practicing your communication skills and researching common interview questions.

English Proficiency: If English is not your first language, be prepared to demonstrate your English proficiency through tests like TOEFL or IELTS.

Remember that the application process can be competitive, so it's important to put your best foot forward. Each university has its own criteria for admission, so thoroughly research the requirements for each program you're interested in. Good luck!
