I've had to recall the ffu for now, Info soon

So about the issue:

With my 950 the FFU flashes fine, but with a couple other people after successfully flashing the FFU it causes the phone to drop to EDL

It's recoverable simple enough with the normal:

But because of this I chose to remove the posts as soon as I knew..

From what I've been told it's to do with the size of the image that is used to make the FFU, I'll try fixing this and detailing the issues in the (now postponed) detailed post and keep you all here updated!

Update to WPCabLinks repo


It's been several years since this repo was last modified, so time for a change!

All lists have been separated into different files, one each for spkg, cbs, spku, cbsu, spkr, cbsr.. This should prevent some issues i've seen recently with users downloading lists and pushing both cbs and spkr packages to a device

Project Astoria bring up on Pre-RS1 builds

Many of you know Project Astoria was an attempt to bring the android app ecospace to Windows Phone, it showed potential but it was axed sadly. But it's still fun to use!

Now onto the news: a small group of us (@empyreal96 @trungnt2910 @basharastifan @fadilfadz01) have been working away for the past few days, and have managed to bring Astoria to many builds up to 10.0.14320.1000.. this includes being able to install "converted" apk files and apk files with either wconnect or apk2appx converter

If you wonder why it stops on such a random build, it's because after this, Arcadia (the Astoria app "player") apps will crash on launch, this may change but still will have limits so no promises


Expect to hear more about a release/guide soon!

Recently I have been organising and uploading everything that I am able to share (it's all already public one way or another, it's just my personal backup that I'm sharing)

Introducing Project Astoria for Windows 10 Mobile build 14320

We are very excited to announce the release of Project Astoria for all Lumia phones (OEM devices untested).

It's just for fun and experiments to see if it was possible to bring Astoria to a newer build, and it was!

Supported Devices:
- Any Windows Phone that can run W10M

Known issues
- The "usual" bugs found in the Astoria subsystem which is taken from build 10570

Small development announcement:

I'm excited to announce a new project called "Windows Phone Community Kit" and it's aim is to be a complete suite of features (with a few exceptions) for Windows Phone.

From device updates, ffu generation and update package creation to resource downloads, backups and more!

Now some of you may think "There is already apps and guides for X feature".. and you'll be correct!

But there's many guides and tools about that people don't know about, or don't know how to use.. so this software will bring all of that together, all community tools like Universal Updater will be incorporated, community guides will be incorporated

So instead of sharing an already release ffu with a handful of edits, I'll be explaining how you can make these small changes to AndromedaOS build 17686 yourself.. think of it as a learning experience 😁 All paths used are representation of what I used

Requirements:

Let's begin!
- To start you need to convert the FFU to a vhdx.

Open command prompt to where you saved ffu2vhdx and run the following command:

ffu2vhdx C:\workspace\17686.ffu C:\workspace\images

When it's done, navigate to and double click the new vhdx file, you may get a pop up saying it failed to mount, but you should see MainOS appear in Windows Explorer.

If you don't, check windows disk management to see if it's correctly loaded the image, if not make sure you are not using a windows version that's pre 1803(?)

- Now that it's mounted we shall go ahead and start by mounting registry hives!

Open` regedit` and click on the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Key, then click` File > Load Hive` from the toolbar

Now in the file browser window, goto F:\Windows\System32\Config\SOFTWARE.
It will ask for a name to call the mounted hive, so name it RTSOFTWARE
Repeat for the SYSTEM hive also, name it RTSYSTEM

(I used F:\ as my MainOS drive)

-Now you need to apply the following to the hives:

Once added, unload the hives by clicking the key for RTSOFTWARE and RTSYSTEM, clicking File > Unload Hive. Close regedit once both hives are unloaded.

- Next is to add the developer menu correctly:

Mount the HACK_EFIESP drive and go to E:\Windows\System32\Boot

Rename resetphone.efi to resetphone.efi.old and then rename developermenu.efi to resetphone.efi

(I used E:\ as my HACK_EFIESP drive letter)

- Now we'll just do some clean up

Search and delete all .dmp files from MainOS. You can also look for .etl logs also but these don't take much space


- Now we will pack as a new FFU:

Navigate an admin command prompt to where img2ffu is, then run the following:

Img2Ffu.exe --ffu-file "C:\Workspace\17686_new.ffu" --block-size 32768 --sector-size 512 --plat-id "Microsoft.MSM8992.P6218" --os-version 10.0.17686.1003 --full-flash-update-version V1 --img-file "C:\Workspace\image\disk.vhdx" --device-path VenHw(B615F1F5-5088-43CD-809C-A16E52487D00) --is-fixed-disk-length false --blanksectorbuffer-size 100 --excluded-file ".\provisioning-partitions.txt"

Once it's finished make sure your bootloader is unlocked and 950 is powered off, now type the following:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Care Suite\Windows Device Recovery Tool\thor2.exe -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\Workspace\images\17686_new.ffu" -reboot

Once you click Enter, plug your 950 in to start flashing

- Once booted

Open edge and navigate to 127.0.0.1 to load Device Portal.

On the menu in the top left, click "New Workspace", name it "Device Info".

Then once you're in the new workspace, click the menu again and "Add Tools to Workspace"

Then select Device Information.. now we can set the device name to what you would prefer!

Once name is set it'll reboot.. and that's all I did so far for my own edits!
