Serial Fake Transfer Suspect Caught, Beaten in Iworoko- Ekiti After Defrauding Boutique, Okada Rider.

A young man has been apprehended by residents in Iworoko Ekiti after allegedly carrying out a series of fake bank transfer scams.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect first defrauded a boutique opposite West Wave, Osekita area, near EKSU, of ₦500,000 using a fake transfer alert. He returned four days later and successfully repeated the act at the same shop.

Two days after the second incident, the suspect reportedly tried the same scheme with a commercial motorcyclist. The bike man insisted he had not received any payment, leading to an argument that attracted a crowd.

The boutique owner, who was among those who gathered, identified the suspect as the same person who defrauded him earlier as Irate residents beat him mercilessly before he was later rescued.

Residents are advised to always confirm bank alerts before releasing goods or services.

INTERNAL MEMORANDUM

TO: All Hostel Chairmen (On-Campus and Off-Campus)

FROM: The Chairman, EKSUSU Hostel Committee

DATE: April 26,2026

SUBJECT: MANDATORY DATA COLLECTION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A UNIFIED HOSTEL LEADERSHIP NETWORK

The leadership of the EKSUSU Hostel Committee, in its commitment to proactive student representation, recognizes the urgent need for a streamlined communication channel between the Student Union and the various student residences.

To ensure that no student residence is left behind in terms of security updates, welfare interventions, and administrative benefits, the Committee is creating a Unified Hostel Database. This digital directory will serve as the primary tool for:

Fast Access: Rapid dissemination of information to all hostels simultaneously.

Direct Advocacy: Ensuring the Committee can reach any hostel chairman instantly during emergencies.

Unified Voice: Creating a synergy among all hostels to better present our collective needs to the University Management.

In view of the above, all Hostel Chairmen are hereby directed to fill out the official leadership registration form. This link should be disseminated across all class platforms to ensure 100% compliance.

Official Registration Link:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTEZ3AKoIJNR2wJbZERSJYjAFrDHtxWzfBwVEre0kzaQcjiw/viewform?usp=publish-editor

All registrations must be completed on or before Wednesday, April 29th, 2026. Failure to register may result in a hostel being bypassed during official welfare distributions and security briefings.
We count on your cooperation to help us build a more organized and responsive student community. Together, we can ensure that every EKSUSU student, regardless of their place of residence, feels the impact of effective representation.

Yours in Aluta,

EKSU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESENTS TRICYCLES TO EASE STUDENT TRANSPORTATION ON CAMPUS

The Alumni Association has once again demonstrated its enduring commitment to the welfare and support of students of our great alma mater with the presentation of two (2) tricycles (Keke NAPEP) to the University Management for the use of students commuting from the Alumni Village, particularly those residing in the Medical Hostel.

The presentation was made to the University Vice-Chancellor, Joseph Babatola Ayodele, on behalf of the University community by the Secretary of BoT, Mr. Isaac Akinleye and supported by the Mayor of the Alumni Village, Dr. Oludotun Adetunberu.

This intervention by the Alumni Association is a direct fall-out of a promise made by the Global President of the Alumni Association following a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Ekiti State University Students’ Union Government to his office. During the visit, the Students’ Union leaders drew attention to the transportation challenges faced by students residing in the Medical Hostel located within the Alumni Village and requested that three (3) tricycles be dedicated to convey students between the hostels and the main campus.

Moved by the genuine concern expressed by the students, the Global President took the request forward and engaged members of the Alumni community to support the initiative. In response, one of our distinguished alumni, Akinsanmi Falaki, D. Fin. (h.c), graciously offered to procure four (4) tricycles to support the commuting needs of the students.

In fulfillment of this generous pledge, two (2) tricycles have now been delivered and formally presented to the University Management for deployment in transporting students from the Alumni Village, especially those residing in the Medical Hostel. Mr. Falaki has also assured the Association that the remaining two (2) tricycles will be procured and delivered within the next few weeks.

The Alumni Association deeply appreciates the altruism, generosity, and unwavering commitment of Mr. Falaki to the progress of our alma mater and the welfare of its students. His gesture exemplifies the spirit of giving back that defines the Ekiti State University Alumni Association.

The Association remains committed to partnering with the University Management and other stakeholders to improve student experience and strengthen the development of Ekiti State University.

Great EKSU Alumni… Ever Forward!

Olumide Abudu
Global Secretary
