Happy Children's Day! Today at EIS Moscow we had excellent lessons, led by our students, about spiders, flags, dancing, art, science and division! We were very impressed with their organisation with students writing full lessons plans, making posters, printing tests and pictures in advance of the lessons. It was wonderful to see the children deal with behaviour management issues as the teachers acting as students were sometimes unruly!
On Wednesday, EIS Year 10 to Year 13 attended the Pushkin Art Gallery with Ms Fox and a cohort of other teachers. The students were given the opportunity to visit the local Art gallery for further inspiration and engagement during their iGCSE course. As an aside, it is held in high regard with exam boards if students do visit museums/ galleries and reference this within their art portfolios.
EIS Teachers' handwriting was put to the test this week as they entered a handwriting competition run by the Student Council! Teachers needed to write a poem in their best handwriting. On Thursday, the student council judged the entries and on Friday morning they awarded prizes to the teachers. Well done to all! Thank you to the Student Council for this great idea!
After an early breakfast on Friday, 2nd June, Ksenia, EIS Eco Committee chairperson, and nine committee members set off on an anti-litter field trip, accompanied by Mr Fred and Mr Ward. Equipped with refuse bags and pairs of gloves to protect their hands, the committee’s aim was to walk through the local suburb and then on to a pond, called Prud Zapyataya, and Parkovaya Zona Otdykha, a tranquil forest, picking up recyclable litter. Moscow is a comparatively clean city, but the Eco Committee was surprised to discover quite a lot of empty cans, coffee cups, cartons, sweet wrappers, plastic bottles and even a glass bottle, carelessly discarded on pavements and along walkways in the forest. After a successful three-hour walk, everyone returned to school in the knowledge that our local environment was just that little bit cleaner!
