'ONE BODY, ONE SPIRIT, ONE HOPE'
The 13th LWF General Assembly, Krakow, Poland 🇵🇱
===
The Thirteenth The Lutheran World Federation  Assembly took place in Poland. Its theme was One Body, One Spirit, One Hope.

In a fragmented world, we are called to unity in the one body of Christ.  The Assembly theme is drawn from Ephesians 4:4, “There is one body, one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called”.
The venue of the LWF Thirteenth Assembly was in the historic Polish city of Kraków,  In total, some 355 official delegates attended it. Also representatives of associate members, ecumenical guests, official presenters, advisors, ex officio participants, volunteers and staff presented.

The 13th #LWFAssembly in Krakow, our #OneBodyOneSpiritOneHope is renewed by our gathering together and will continue across 150 member churches in the days, months, and years to come.

The LWF was founded in the wake of the Second World War (1947), at a time when Lutheran churches aspired for greater fellowship and solidarity among themselves. It relies on four pillars:

• Rescue the needy

• Common initiatives in mission

• Joints efforts in theology

• A common response to the ecumenical challenge.

"We are a global communion of churches in the Lutheran tradition, living and working together for a just, peaceful, and reconciled world." (LWF)

LWF Vision:
"Liberated by God’s grace, a communion in Christ, living and working together for a just, peaceful, and reconciled world."

"We strive to put our Christian faith into action through humanitarian and development work, advocacy, shared witness, and dialogue." (LWF)

The EECMY joined the LWF in 1963.

#Youth Has a Key Role in Peace Processes
===Media Interview@Kigali, Rwanda 🇷🇼
In Africa, millions of young people experience violence, face exploitation, miss out on education, and struggle to survive due to war and conflicts in different parts of the continent.
Amidst such challenges, young people have shown that they are able to play an active role, particularly at grassroots and local levels, as peacemakers, mediators, and peacebuilders.

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for others..." 1Tim. 4:12

Readings of the day : Psalm 42:8-11, Isa. 65:17-25, Philip. 2:14-18

Sermon: Philip. 2:14-18
"Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me." Philip. 2:14-18
Jesus is the ultimate role model for Christians. In Philippians 1:27—2:18, the apostle Paul presents Christ’s example of humble servanthood. Believers who want to live a life worthy of the gospel and dwell together in unity must empty themselves of pride, serving one another unselfishly, just as Jesus demonstrated in His earthly life and ministry. One way to model our Lord’s selfless attitude is to “do all things without grumbling or disputing” (Philippians 2:14, ESV).

For most of us, obeying Philippians 2:14 is a tall order. How, then, can we do all things without grumbling or disputing? Paul gives us the answer in the preceding verse. We can’t concoct the attitudes and behaviors of Jesus Christ through our own human effort. We must submit ourselves to God and allow Him to work in us, giving us “the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” (Philippians 2:13, NLT). Without God’s power operating on the inside, we cannot obey Him on the outside. That power comes from the indwelling Holy Spirit (John 14:16–17, 26; Acts 1:8).
With Christ as our example, and God’s Spirit transforming our hearts, we too can do all things without grumbling or disputing.

We are Stewards of God's Creation!
===
Today, June 5, is World Environment Day 2024. World Environment Day (WED) is a powerful reminder of the importance of our natural environment and the urgent need to protect it. By raising awareness, encouraging action, and fostering global collaboration, it plays a vital role in promoting a sustainable and resilient future.

God has clearly placed humans in a position of responsibility over the creation. (1) Genesis 2:15 says “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”(2) We recognize that all created things belong to God (3) and that we are accountable to Him as stewards of the creation. God commissions us to rule over the creation in a way that sustains, protects, and enhances His works so that all creation may fulfill the purposes God intended for it. We must manage the environment not simply for our own benefit but for God′s glory.
We worship God the Creator more fully as we see His glory in His creation and as we participate in His work of sustaining and restoring proper relationships within the creation.

If we are careless in our stewardship of God’s creation, we not only destroy that which He has made for His glory, but we also deny others the opportunity to see with wonder and awe God’s creation.

The slogan of Environment Day 2024 is “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” As we celebrate World Environment Day 2024 (WED 2024), let’s become a part of #GenerationRestoration and resolve to heal our planet by making responsible choices!
