The LWF Youth Pre-Assembly

The LWF Youth gathered together in Wisła Malinka in the Youth Pre-Assembly and discussed the different contexts and envisioned our
future under the theme “One body, One spirit, One hope”.
During the meeting, friendships were forged and there existed a universal language of joy, a
shared laughter that transcended boundaries, and a collective spirit of youth. Just like Isaiah
responded to God “Here I am, Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8), the youth are also sent to serve like any other
person in the church. They also stand together as young people from different contexts and realities.
In the Pre-Assembly they entered discussions with courage and curiosity on different issues that brought them
together and divides them as part of global communion. By validating the Assembly theme “One body, One spirit, One hope”, they focused on the common priorities that unites them as a reconciled diversity in
communion.

During the Pre-Assembly, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to work together globally and approved a message, as well as Assembly priorities that will guide the disscusions along the next years.

Rev. Anne Burghardt, LWF General Secretary, visited Wisła Malinka to extend her warm greetings to the LWF Youth Pre-Assembly participants. She emphasized the significance of the global youth network for the communion of churches and stressed the importance of continued engagement as youth leaders on a global scale.

Savanna Sullivan, LWF Program Executive for Youth, also encouraged participants to contemplate the significance of culture and the vital role of intercultural communication within the global youth network. Conversations delved into personal name stories, the concept of a cultural iceberg, and the promotion of LWF shared values.

During the session, there was a valuable moment for regional priority messages presentaquestions, discussions and dialogue, where participants shared their thoughts and aspirations for the youth work.

In the Pre-Assembly, over 100 Delegates, stewards and ex-officio council members participated from all over the world, from all continents and over 70 countries.
Wondmagegn Udessa, EECMY Children and Youth Ministry Department Director, is participating in the Pre-Assembly by representing EECMY as a delegate and presented Africa Region Priorities with other selected Delegates from the region.

በጉባዬውም ለቀጣይ ሰባት አመታት የአለም አቀፉን የሉተራን ፌዴሬሽን በፕሬዝዳንትነት እንዲመሩ ዴንማርካዊው ቢሾፕ ሄንሪክ ስቱብክጄር ተመርጠዋል: የአፍሪካውን ቀጠና እንዲያስተባብሩና እንዲመሩ ደግሞ በም/ፕሬዚዳንትነት ቄስ ዶ/ር ዮናስ ይገዙ ተመርጧል።

የኢትዮጲያ ወንጌላዊት ቤተ ክርስቲያን መካነ ኢየሱስ የዓለም ሉተራን ፌደራስዮንን በአባልነት የተቀላቀለችው እ/ኢ/አ 1963 ሲሆን ከዛ ቀደም ባሉት አመታት በተሳትፎ ህብረት ስታደርግ ቆይታለች። በ13ኛው የዓለም ሉተራን ፌደራስዮን አቢይ ጉባዬ የቤተ ክስቲያኒቱ ተሳትፎ ከፍተኛ የነበረ ሲሆን በ7 ልኡካን፣ 1 ተሳታፊ እና 1 ተናጋሪ ተወክላለች።

በአይሁዶች ላይ የተፈጸመ አሰቃቂ የጅምላ ግድያ
==(ከትናንት ታሪካዊ ስህተቶች እንማር)
ይህ ቦታ 'Auschwitz Birkenau' ይባላል። በፖላንድ ሀገር ውስጥ ይገኛል:: በ20 ኛው ክፍለ ዘመን በናዚ ጀርመን በአይሁዶች ላይ የተፈጸመውን ግፍ የሚያሳይ የመታሰብያ ስፍራ እና ሙዝዬም ነው::
በመጀመርያ ይህ የማጎሪያ ካምፕ የፖላንድ ፖለቲከኞችን እና የሶቪየት ሩሲያን የጦር እስረኞች ለማሰር በናዚዎች የተገነባ ነበር። በኋላ ግን በ1942-1945 ዓ.ም ከመላው አውሮፓ የመጡ አይሁዶች የሚሰቃዩበት እና በአሰቃቂ ሁኔታ የተገደሉበት የሞት ፋብሪካ ሆነ። ናዚዎች በወቅቱ በተቆጣጠሩባቸው የተለያዩ የአውሮፓ አገሮች የተለያዩ የማጎሪያ ካምፖችን ገንብተው ነበር። ይህ ግን ከማጎሪያ ካምፖች ሁሉ ትልቁ ነበር።

በዚያን ጊዜ ብዙ አይሁዶች በፖላንድ ይኖሩ ስለነበር እና ፖላንድ የምትገኘው በመካከለኛው አውሮፓ ውስጥ ስለነበረ በእነዚህ የፖላንድ ማጎሪያ ካምፖች ውስጥ አይሁዶችን ከተለያየ የአውሮፓ ሀገራት በጅምላ ሊገድሏቸው ሰብሰቧቸው:: በማጎሪያ ካምፖች ከተገደሉት 1.3-1.5 ሚሊዮን ሰዎች ውስጥ ከ90% በላይ የሚሆኑት አይሁዶች ሲሆኑ የፖላንድ የፖለቲካ እስረኞች እና ሌሎችም ተገድለዋል ። ከ1942 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ ግን ቦታው አይሁዶች በጅምላ የሚታሰሩበትና የሚገደሉበት ቦታ ሆነ። በፎቶዎቹ ላይ እንደምትመለከቱት ከተለያዩ የአውሮፓ ሀገራት አይሁዶችን ለስራ እንፈልጋችኃለን ብለው ወደዚህ ቦታ አስመጧቸው። አይሁዶች እውነት መስሏቸው ንብረታቸውን ጠቅልለው ወደ ፖላንድ ሄዱ።

ወደ ካምፑ ሲደርሱም በሁለት ጎራ እንዲሰለፉ ተደረጉ፡ አንደኛው መስመር ስራ ለመስራት አቅም ያላቸው ወንዶች ሲሆኑ ሁለተኛው መስመር ደግሞ ሴቶች፣ ህጻናት፣ አዛውንቶች፣ ታማሚወች እና አካል ጉዳተኞች ነበሩ። ከዚያም ያልጠበቁት አስፈሪ ነገር አጋጠማቸው፡ በመጀመሪያ ይዘውት የመጡት ንብረቶቻቸው ሁሉ ጫማና ልብሶቻቸውን እና የቤት ንብረቶቻቸውን ጨምሮ የያዙትን ሁሉ ተቀሙ። ናዚዎች ከዘረፉት ንብረቶች ውድ ዕቃዎችን ሰብስበው ወደ ጀርመን ይልኩ ነበር። ንብረቱ ከተወረሰ በኋላ የሴቶቹ ፀጉር ተቆርጦ/ተላጭቶ ወደ ፋብሪካዎች ይላክ ነበረ።

ከዚያም የግዳጅ ሥራ የሚሠሩትን ብርቱ ወንዶችን ብቻ ለይተው ወደ ማጎርያው ካምፕ ያስገቡአቸውና ከዚያም ወደ ተለያዩ የግዳጅ ሥራዎች ያሰማሯቸው ነበር። ለግዳጅ ሥራ የማይታዘዝ፣ ለማምለጥ የሞከረ እና ለማመፅ የሚሞክር፣ ከብዙ ሰዎች ጋር በጨለማ ጠባብ ክፍል ውስጥ ይታሰር ነበረ። ሌሎች ይሰቀላሉ፣ሌሎች በጠመንጃ ይገደላሉ... ሥራ ሲደክሙ የዋሉት ሲገቡ በቂ ምግብ አይሰጣቸውም፣ንፁህ የመጠጥ ውሃ ማግኘት አይቻልም፣ንጽህናቸውን ለመጠበቅ በቂ ውሃ የለም፣መጸዳጃ ቤት በቀን ሁለት ጊዜ ብቻ ይፈቀዳል።

ሰዎች በክፍት መጸዳጃ አብረው በጋራ ይጠቀማሉ፣ የሚኖሩበት ቤት እጅግ በጣም ቀዝቃዛ ቤት ነው፣ ሌላኛው ቤት ደግሞ ለፈረስ የተሰራ ቤት ነው።

በጣም በሚቀዘቅዝበት ጊዜ አብዛኛው ሰው በቦታው በቅዝቃዛው ምክንያት ይሞታል: ምክንያቱም በበረዶው ወቅት በቂ ልብስ እና ሙቀት ማግኘት አይቻልም:: እነዚህ ለጉልበት ስራ የተመረጡ ሰዎች እስኪሞቱ ድረስ ይሠራሉ: ከዚያም በመከራ ሞት ይሞታሉ::
ናዚዎች የጉልበት ሥራ መሥራት የማይችሉትን አረጋውያንን፣ ሕጻናትንና ሴቶችን፣ ሕሙማንን፣ አካል ጉዳተኞችን እንደደረሱ በአሰቃቂ ሁኔታ ይገድሏቸው ነበር። በሥዕሉ ላይ እንደሚታየው ከ 70 በመቶ በላይ የሚሆኑት ወዲያውኑ ወደ ሞት ፋብሪካ ይወሰዳሉ ይገደላሉ:: እንዴት እንደተገደሉ ለመናገር በጣም ከባድ እና ዘግናኝ ነው ... ልብሳቸውን አውልቀው በጠባብ እና በታጠረ ክፍል ውስጥ ብዙ ሰዎችን ሰብስበው ገዳይ የኬሚካል ጋዝ ይለቁባቸውና አሰቃይተው ይገሏቸዋል ... ከገደሏቸው በኋላ ሬሳቸውን ሰብስበው ያቃጥሉና አመዱን እንደ ማዳበሪያ ይጠቀሙ ነበር። እነዚህ ሁሉ ግድያዎች የተፈፀሙባቸው ያለ ምንም ምክንያት ወይም ጥፋት አይሁዳዊ በመሆናቸው ብቻ ነበር። የእነዚህ ግድያዎች ምንጭ ጥላቻ፣ በጥላቻ ላይ የተመሰረተ የፖለቲካ ፕሮፓጋንዳ፣ ‘ዘረኝነት’፣ ሽብርተኝነት እና የመሳሰሉት ናቸው። ለምሳሌ ያህል፣ በጊዜው (1944) ናዚዎችን በመወከል የፖላንድ ገዥ የሆነው ሃንስ ፍራንክ ‘የአይሁድ ዘር ከዓለም ሙሉ በሙሉ መጥፋት ያለበት ዘር ነው’ በማለት ይፎክር ነበረ።

በአጠቃላይ 6 ሚሊዮን የሚሆኑ አይሁዶች የፖላንድ ጨምሮ በተለያዬ ማጎሪያ ካምፖች በናዚዎች በአሰቃቂ ሁኔታ ተገድለዋል። ይህ በ20ኛው ክፍለ ዘመን በናዚዎች የተፈፀመው እጅግ አረመኔያዊ እና አሰቃቂ ድርጊት ነው።

መላውን የ 'Auschwitz Birkenau' የማጎርያ ካምፕ ስንዞር ስሜታችንን መግታት አልቻልንም፣ እንባችንንም መግታት አልቻልንም፣... ከአይሁድ ሴቶች የተቆረጠው ፀጉራቸው ፣ ጫማና ልብሳቸው፣ የቤት ዕቃቸው... በሙዝዬሙ ውስጥ ተቀማጧል።
መጀመሪያ ወደ ውስጥ ስንገባ መግቢያው ላይ የተሰቀለው ጽሁፍ እንዲህ የሚል ነው: ‘Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it’ (George Santayana),፣ ትርጉም “የትናንቱን ስህተት የማያስታውስ ሰው እነዚያን ስህተቶች እንዲደግም ተፈርዶበታል” ይላል።

በየቀኑ በሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ ሰዎች የኦሽዊትዝ ቢርኬናዉ ማጎሪያ ጣቢያን ይጎበኛሉ: ከዚህ ክፉ ክስተት እንድማሩ በተለያዩ ቋንቋዎች በባለሙያዎች ዝርዝር ማብራሪያ ይሰጣቸዋል። እኛም ከመጀመሪያ እስከ መጨረሻ ጎበኝተን በመጨረሻም እግዚአብሔር ምህረቱን እንዲያበዛልን እና ማስተዋልን እንዲጨምርልን: የዛሬዋ አለም ከትናንት ስህተቶች እንድትማር እና ስህተቶቹን እንዳትደግም ጸልይን ጉብኝታችንን አጠናቀቅን።

ከትናንት የታሪክ ስህተት እንድንማር: ዕድል አግኝቼ የጎበኘሁትን እናንተም እንድትማሩበት ይህን ታሪክ አጠናቅሬ አጠር አድርጌ ጻፍኩላችሁ። የእግዚአብሔር ቃል ማስተዋል የሌለው ሕዝብ ይጠፋል: ይወድቃል: ይገለበጣል (ሆሴዕ 4፡14) ስለሚል: ካለማስተዋል እንዳንጠፋ እግዚአብሔር ይርዳን : ማስተዋልንም ያብዛልን! ተባረኩ!

Promoting the Wholistic Ministry of EECMY @LWFAssembly, Poland

The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) began proclaiming the Gospel with the help of Lutheran and Presbyterian Missions in Ethiopia. As a result of these joint efforts, congregations, parishes, and synods were established that brought about instituting of the EECMY as a national Church on January 21, 1959.

In the 1972s, the EECMY coined a guiding theme for her services, “Serving the Whole Person”, later referred to as holistic ministry. This has remained a guiding principle for all church work, be it evangelism or development. The holistic ministry implied that the church is out to address the spiritual as well as the physical and psycho-social needs of a person. This popular principle has helped the church to holistically contribute to the livelihoods of communities and actively involved in building the society at large. The church institutionally embraced evangelism and development works as major components of its ministry which were already progressing hand-in-hand from its inception.

The development and social services of the church is led by her Development and Social Services Commission which was re-organized into Development and Social Services Commission (EECMY-DASSC) and registered as a legal church-based development agency in line with the government policy in the year 2000.

EECMY-DASSC has established a strong network with other actors and has secured firm acceptance by local, regional and federal government bodies and collaborative relationships are being progressively strengthened. Development interventions initiated by communities and supported by EECMY-DASSC are contributing to the realization of the poverty reduction aims and national development policy targets.
