Hi! We are happy to present to you The EduVerse – an online festival for people shaping the future of education.

Posting video lessons in 2010. Teaching in virtual classrooms in 2012. Learning on mobile devices in 2014. These were pivotal, game-changing moments for teachers and learners worldwide. Another such moment is on the horizon - or perhaps it is already here.
There is little question that the virtual experiences of Web 3 will transform how we interact online. How will it affect the way we teach and learn?

More to the point, how will we, the most innovative teachers and learners, shape its design and steer its course?

He Lives 100% In The Metaverse

Meet Fedor, the first human who lives 100% in the #Metaverse
#vr #meta #oculus

Hey guys I thought it would be cool to create this character - lmk in the comments if you want to see more of his adventures!
I am happy to announce that I was hired to be a reporter for 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗕𝗮𝘇𝗮, a channel about the #Metaverse, Web 3.0, and #blockchain. ⁣`
I will be reporting about new education in the Metaverse, or as we call it with Fluency MC— the EduVerse.⁣

I spent a week researching VR tools for learning English and will talk about the results of my research. ⁣

I'm a little nervous – the first program with my report airs tomorrow. Please tell me that it's going to be alright ❤️
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻-𝗧𝗼-𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻⁣

To start this conversation, we need to define the key terms. Let’s see if I can make this very clear and easy to understand ❤️

𝘄𝗲𝗯 𝟯.𝟬 is a term used to describe the future of the World Wide Web and the underlying technology⁣

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 – is a virtual universe where web 3.0 technology is applied. It has people in the form of their avatars, environments that these people can move through, the activities people can do, the items they can own, and the currency they can buy these items with. ⁣

You may have heard of the virtual worlds developing now: Fortnite, Roblox, Meta Horizon Worlds (the ex-Facebook), etc. ⁣

We can use a metaphor: people built countries with different ideas in mind, but they all are a part of our planet, and you can travel from one country to another. In the same way, you will be able to maintain your virtual possessions, money, and identity and move from one virtual world to another in The Metaverse. ⁣
𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆-𝘁𝗼-𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻 gaming has taken the web 3.0 world by storm – the ability to make real-world value by playing a game in the Metaverse is so attractive to people for the simple reason — the value can be earned by having fun. ⁣

Since I started teaching 18 years ago, I have always looked for the most effective and innovative ways to help people learn and become better versions of themselves. Taking the core ideas from play-to-earn gaming and applying them to a new 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻-𝘁𝗼-𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 concept for education is something that I've been working on. ⁣

In the next couple of days, I will tell you about the first course, or a "climb" as we call it, that we are launching to test the "learn-to-earn" concept. It's a process, and we need to learn by doing. The only way to see if this will be more effective than traditional education is to give it a try. ⁣
Quantum Thinking and Virtual Reality

Nick Szabo, a cryptographer and computer scientist, popularized the term Quantum Thinking. In a podcast with Tim Ferriss and Naval Ravikant, Szabo discussed a number of subjects, one of which was his strategy for success in entrepreneurship - quantum thinking.

QUANTUM THINKING is the art of holding two contradictory viewpoints at the same time.

The idea is to get yourself into the realm of possibilities rather than zeros and ones, and to prevent yourself from expressing your belief simply for one side or the other.

Szabo says: "If you are unable or unwilling to think in such a quantum or scholastic manner, it is much less likely that your thoughts are worthy of others’ consideration".
I think we should use quantum thinking when it comes to VR and new technology. I often hear that if I believe VR is beneficial, this implies that I should believe the real world is awful. Or if virtual worlds flourish, this inevitably indicates that real-world interests will decrease. But it doesn't have to be this way.

As a consequence of this way of thinking, people are just trying to protect themselves by keeping away... or even worse – limiting access of others.

But isn't it wonderful to have an extra room in your house that could take you anywhere!?

This doesn't necessarily have to mean that other rooms in your house have to disappear or completely lose their appeal.

And if discover that we have no incentives to come back from this Virtual World "room", maybe the problem is not just in XR, but something also should be fixed in the way our old world works.

Let's be curious and have faith that truly good and meaningful IRL things will always stay in our lives simply because they feel great and do good. Let's protect them and embrace the new at the same time.

I vote for wonderful experiences in both VR and IRL! Who's with me?
We spent out first week with Moxie, a state-of-the-art companion robot that I got for Rada. Moxie teaches kids emotional intelligence (you read it right). It also reads with your child and discusses books, does meditations and mindfulness activities, dances, draws, discusses complicated issues like making mistakes, being kind and navigating emotions, tells jokes and fun facts from history. Your child becomes Moxie's mentor at Global Robotics Laboratory on a mission to teach #Moxie how to understand humans better and be a better companion for them.⁣

You can read about Moxie's features, the team and the mission behind the project at embodied.com

The issue of robots that become kids' friends is beautifully and timely addressed in a new animation film called "Ron's Gone Wrong". This movie is geniunly hillarious and intelligent

We had beautiful, thoughtful, and educated discussions about privacy, security, machine learning, #robotics, and the ethics of creating companion robots after watching the film and playing with Moxie. Rada is only 7 years old.⁣

Remember one of my previous posts about quantum thinking? It's scary and exciting, alarming and empowering at the same time. One thing you can tell for sure: robots and AI education are definitely coming. And if we, as educators and parents, don't research it, form our views, and drive the advancement of this technology in the proper direction, someone else will make decisions for us.
