Looks matter. Sit up straight. Get the lab work. Build a health savings. Break the screen addiction. Stop buying useless crap. Look presentable. Take care of your teeth. Build muscle. Learn how to cook. Sweat often. Mind your business. Do hard things.
You can save yourself.

And the troubling part of life is,
You try to understand more than you know.
And you think you know more than there is to be understood.

Reading the summary of a book is like a cab driver driving you to a location you want to reach.
Reading a book is like you driving there yourself.
In both cases, you reach the location.
But when you drive to a place, you also remember the way. You can reach there again without directions.

During certain moments in life, when we must walk alone, we are still accompanied by trees, an overarching sky, and stars as our witnesses. Even in our loneliest times, we are never truly alone, if only we choose to believe it.

At least once in their lives, most people usually have the "opportunity" to hit rock bottom and rebuild themselves better, especially when they still have nearly nothing to lose;
the real difficulty begins when you have enough to lose, not enough to win, and start playing "safe," until you notice, way too late, that you ended up actually never truly living at all;
that's why you see so many people who seem to be doing relatively well from the point of view of conventional success, and yet, who also seem quite disconnected emotionally and not having fun at all in their daily lives.

But you can't make people listen. They have to come round in their own time, wondering what happened and why the world blew up around them. It can't last.

You wonβt understand what I mean now, but someday you will: the only trick of friendship, I think, is to find people who are better than you are π
βnot smarter, not cooler, but kinder, and more generous, and more forgivingβΊοΈ βand then to appreciate them for what they can teach you, and to try to listen to them when they tell you something about yourself, no matter how badβor goodβit might be, and to trust them, which is the hardest thing of all. But the best, as well.
