I’ve heard a lot we need to toughen our kids up to survive in the cruel world. I don’t agree.

That “toughness” is so often brokenness, hardening.

I want to raise children who feel confident and secure because they know they were loved no matter what.

I want to raise children who expect to be treated well and treat others well too because that’s what they’ve always known.

“Tough” isn’t my goal. Strong in the face of adversity, sure, but that strength comes from love and security.

By providing an endless flow of passive entertainment - whether that be in the form of screens or audiobooks - we’re training them to be completely unaware of their surroundings

To learn how to function in life and how to keep their bodies safe, children need to see a world beyond a screen and hear that world without headphones

How can a generation that values mindfulness, meditation, and mental well-being feel comfortable with raising a distracted generation of children who are incapable of being still, present, and alert?
