The Russian opposition was invited to the autumn session of PACE to coordinate the join efforts to counter Putin's regime. Chechens, like Ukrainians, are skeptical about Russian liberalism.
I, on behalf of the Chechen national liberation movement “United Force”, asked three questions to the Russian opposition:
1.Why are only ethnic Russians represented among the Russian opposition? Isn't Russia a federation of different nations?
2.You engage in political activities to improve the condition of your opposition abroad but it's necessary to act in a way that improves the condition of the peoples of Russia on the ground. Why don't we see concrete actions from your side that help solve the internal problems of Russia and its peoples?
3.What can you say about Chechnya? Is it an independent occupied country or a region of Russia?
Following this, Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairman of the Liaison Committee in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, spoke and asked two questions to the Russian opposition:
1. How do you feel about the global decolonization and denuclearization of Russia?
2. Are you for the preservation of the Russian Empire or for the self-determination of nations?
An introductory conversation between the participants took place on the sidelines.
