DM our secretary to register via https://wa.me/2349151886372?text=Hi+DT+secretary,+my+name+is---%2C+I%27m+interested+in+DT%27s+JAMB+Tutorial
QUESTION TAGS RULES

RULE 1
If the clause is positive, the question tag should be negative.
illustration:
She's fat, isn't she?
Wale was here, wasn't he?

RULE 2
If the clause is negative, the question tag should be positive.
Illustration:
She's not headstrong, is she?
Her boyfriend does not love her, does he?

NB: A negative statement is identified by the presence of "not" or n't.
For example
She is a Nurse (positive statement)
Isn't she?(negative tag).

▪️There are also some words that shows negativity even without possessing 'not' or n't
E.g"never","barely","hardly","scarcely","seldom","no longer","hardly ever",or any other negative marker , otherwise it is positive.barely, scarcely, Seldomly

Example:
She barely attends classes (negative statement)
Does she?(positive tag)

RULE 3
If an auxiliary verb appears in the clause, it has to be used in the question tag also, then the main or lexical verb is ignored.
Illustration:
Tade has eaten the food, hasn't he?
We have finished the work, haven't we?
They have not arrived, have they?

RULE 4
If only a main verb and no auxiliary verb is used in the clause, the question tag is formed with a "be verb" (do), then the tense should remain the same.
Illustration:
Florence likes pizza, doesn't she?
My friends spend a lot on Food, don’t they?
The boys beat the girl, didn't they?

When the subject is singular and the verb in the main sentence is in the present-simple we form the question tag with does/doesn’t.
🔹Alison likes tennis, doesn't she?

When the subject is plural in nature and the statement is in the present tense too, use --do/don't.
🔹They play the guitar, don't they?

If the verb is in the past-simple we use did/didn't irrespective of whether the subject is singular or plural.
🔹They went to the cinema, didn't they?
🔹She studied in New Zealand, didn't she?

RULE 5
When 'there is', 'there are', and 'there were' are used in the main clause, 'there' should also be used in the tag.
illustration:
There is nothing to do at the moment, is there?
There were series of outbreaks in the past few years, weren't there?

RULE 6
If a statement contains two or more auxillary verbs, the first one should be used alongside the pronoun form of the subject to form the question tag
🌈E.g

The women should have informed me earlier,---?
A.should they
B.have they
C.shouldn't they
D.haven't they
Look at this statement, we have two auxiliary verbs “ should” and “have” but the first one should be used alongside the pronoun form of the subject.
So, shouldn’t they not haven’t they

RULE 7
In sentence with let, if sentences starts with let us/let’s then
question tag will be “shall we”.
Ex. let us go for a long drive tonight, shall we?

RULE 8
When there is order and appeal refer in a sentence then question tag
will be “won’t you”.
Ex. shut the door, won’t you?

If there is order or offer for something to a person then also
question tag will be “will you/would you”.
Have a cup of coffee, would you?

In case of referring impatience question tag “can’t you” should be used.
Shut your mouth, can’t you?
