Part 2. Question tags
RULE 5
If only a main verb and no auxiliary verb is used in the clause, the question tag is formed with a "be verb" (do), then the tense should remain the same.
Illustration:
Florence likes pizza, doesn't she?
My friends spend a lot on Food, donβt they?
The boys beat the girl, didn't they?
When the subject is singular and the verb in the main sentence is in the present-simple we form the question tag with does/doesnβt.
πΉAlison likes tennis, doesn't she?
When the subject is plural in nature and the statement is in the present tense too, use --do/don't.
πΉThey play the guitar, don't they?
If the verb is in the past-simple we use did/didn't irrespective of whether the subject is singular or plural.
πΉThey went to the cinema, didn't they?
πΉShe studied in New Zealand, didn't she?
RULE 6
When 'there is', 'there are', and 'there were' are used in the main clause, 'there' should also be used in the tag.
illustration:
There is nothing to do at the moment, is there?
There were series of outbreaks in the past few years, weren't there?
RULE 7
If a statement contains two or more auxillary verbs, the first one should be used alongside the pronoun form of the subject to form the question tag
πE.g
The women should have informed me earlier,---?
A.should they
B.have they
C.shouldn't theyβ
D.haven't they
Look at this statement, we have two auxiliary verbs β shouldβ and βhaveβ but the first one should be used alongside the pronoun form of the subject.
So, shouldnβt theyβ not havenβt theyβ
RULE 8
When there is order and appeal refer in a sentence then question tag
will be βwonβt youβ.
Ex. shut the door, wonβt you?
If there is order or offer for something to a person then also
question tag will be βwill you/would youβ.
Have a cup of coffee, would you?
In case of referring impatience question tag βcanβt youβ should be used.
Shut your mouth, canβt you?

π₯THE APOSTROPHE
The apostrophe is a mechanical device in English. It is a comma-like sign put on a word, number or letter. It can be used to show possession (I.e ownership), omission or contraction, or to pluralize items-words or numbers.
Now Apostrophe is all about knowing the rules governing it.
So I will give you all the Rules guiding Apostrophe.
RULE 1π₯
The apostrophe is generally used for living things to show ownership.
π« For example:John's car,the spider's web,Osaro's house,e.t.c.
π«For non-living things (or inanimate objects),however, the apostrophe is not used to show ownership, rather the preposition "of" should be used.
For example
The story's length β
The length of the story β
The building's roofβ
The roof of the building β
RULE 2π₯
When a singular noun does not end in βsβ it takes the apostrophe (') and βsβ for ownership.
π«For example:Ngozi's book,Joseph's house,Sandra's car
RULE 3π₯
When a plural ends in "s" ,it takes only the apostrophe (') after the "s" it ends with for ownership.
π«In other words, another "s" should not be introduced after the apostrophe.
π«For example: Ladies' bags, babies' clothes, boys' shoes e.t.c
RULE 4π₯
When a plural noun does not in "s" ,it takes the apostrophe (') and "s" for ownership.
π«For example: men's week, women's convention e.t.c

π₯(2.0)APOSTROPHE RULES
RULE 5π₯
When a "proper name" ends in "s" ,sometimes apostrophe and another -s (I.e 's) is used while other times, we use apostrophe (') only without adding another-s.
π«The truth is it depends on the proper name.
π« If the proper name is "classical, biblical,or historical name" that ends in -s and the name is a "general or common name in this era", or if the name is "contemporary to this era" or a "general name people bear around us", then it should take "apostrophe" and another-S (I.e 's) for ownership.
π«Also, if the name "is not a classical ,is not a biblical,or is not a historical name" and it ends in -S , it should take "apostrophe" and another -S (I.e 'S) for ownership
π«For example
James' penβ
James's penβ
Charles' houseβ
Charles's houseβ
π«Note: The only exception here is "Moses" as the possessive form is (Moses')and not (Moses's).
π«In other words, when using Moses(which is a proper name that ends with -S) for ownership or possession, it should take only apostrophe (') after the -s it ends with without the inclusion of another -s after the apostrophe.
For example
Moses's rodβ
Moses' rodβ
Also if the proper name "is a classical, biblical or historical name" that ends with -S and "it is not a general name in this era" or if the proper name "is not contemporary to this era" or if it "is not a common name people bear around us" ,then it should take "only the apostrophe (')" after the -S it ends with ,without the inclusion of another-S after the apostrophe.
For example:
Jesus' name
Archilles' heels
Hercules' strength e.t.c
Please note
Generally Possession is (β-s) right
But the only exception when -s is not added and just the apostrophe sign (β) is used is when:
1. When a plural end with βs
E.g ladies, boys. It will be ladiesβ bag, boysβ shoes
2. When you use Moses for ownership or possession
E.g Mosesβ rod
3. If the name is a biblical name and itβs not a common name people bear around us
E.g. Jesusβ name
RULE 6π₯
When two or more persons jointly own a thing (i.e when there is unity in the ownership or when they co-own the thing), the last person appropriately takes the apostrophe (') and S
1. This is Nosa and Franka's shop
2. This is Ebuka ,Johnson and Osayi's house
π«Note: If there is disunity in the ownership (I.e if there is separate ownership or if they own the thing individually ), each person takes the apostrophe (') and S appropriately.
For example
These are Nosa's and Franca's shops
RULE 7π₯
When someone possesses something and that thing possesses another thing, both possesses should appropriately take the apostrophe (') and S .
π« In other words, If A possesses B and B possesses C ,then A and B should take the apostrophe (') and -S
For example:
This Mr John's son's pencil
That is my father's sister's car
