1) A ball is projected horizontally from the top of hill with a velocity of 20m/s it reaches the ground 4 seconds later, what is the height of the hill? (g=10m/s²).
A) 60m
B) 20m
C) 40m
D) 80m
Solution
The ball is projected horizontally, so it behaves like a projectile.
From the equation of motion, H = ut+½gt², when the ball is projected horizontally, the initial vertical velocity is zero, and therefore, the equation becomes, H = ½gt². By making t the subject, you have, t = √(2H/g)... Always remember this formula even when you're sleeping ✍️
So now, from the question, t = 4s, H = ?
Insert your values, 4 = √2H/10
16 = 2H/10
H = 80m

2. An object is projected with a velocity of 100m/s from the ground level at an angle to the vertical. If the total time of flight of the projectile is 10s, calculate the angle.
A) 30°
B) 45°
C) 60°
D) 105°
Solution
Time of flight= 2Usinθ/g when the angle is inclined to the horizontal and Time of flight= 2Ucosθ/g when the angle is inclined to the vertical.
From this now,
θ=?, U= 100m/s, T =10s
10 = 2×100cosθ/10
10 = 20cosθ
cosθ = 1/2
θ = ArcCos(1/2) = 60°

3. An object is projected with a velocity of 100m/s at an angle of 60° to the vertical. Calculate the time taken by the object to reach the highest point. (Take g=10m/s²).
A) 3.9s
B) 12.8s
C) 25s
D) 5s
Solution
Just like question 2,
Time of flight= 2Ucosθ/g when the angle is inclined to the vertical.
But we're asked time taken to reach the maximum height, which from the note I gave you is SMALL LETTER t.
t = Ucosθ/g
t = 100×cos60/10
t = 50/10
t = 5s

4. A stone is projected horizontally from the top of a tower with a speed of 5m/s. It lands on the ground level at a horizontal distance of 20m from the foot of the tower. Calculate the height of the tower. (g-10m/s²).
A) 100m
B) 80m
C) 111m
D) 256m
Solution
We're given range. How did we know this?
The question says the distance from the foot of the tower, and the foot of a building is always on the horizontal ground ✍️
The horizontal distance covered, range (R) is the product of the initial horizontal velocity and the time taken.
R = ut
u = 5m/s, H=?, R= 20m
20 = 5t
t = 4s
From t = √(2H/g)...
4 = √2×H/10
Square both sides
16 = 2H/10
H = 80m

[2001; Q25]
Which of the following best explains the Increase in the rate of a chemical reaction as the temperature rises?
A. The bonds in the reacting molecules are more
B. The molecular Collisions become more violent
C. A lower proportion of the molecules has the necessary minimum energy to react readily broken
D. The Collision frequency of the molecules increases

As the temperature of the system increases, the frequency of collisions of the reactant Particles Increases 🔥💥

14. [1997; Q27]
If the rate law obtained for a given reaction is RATE = k[X]^n[Y]^m. What is the overall order of the reaction?
A. nm
B. n/m
C. n+m
D. n-m

Order of the reaction is equal to the summation of the exponential factors = n+m🔥

[2000; Q29]
Powdered marble reacts faster with Hydrochloric Acid Solution rather than the granular form because the powdered form has
A. More molecules
B. More atoms
C. Larger surface area
D. Relatively large mass

Rate of Reaction is directly proportional to Surface Area hence due to its large surface area exposed, Reaction occurs faster🔥💥
