Part 2. Question tags
RULE 5
If only a main verb and no auxiliary verb is used in the clause, the question tag is formed with a "be verb" (do), then the tense should remain the same.
Illustration:
Florence likes pizza, doesn't she?
My friends spend a lot on Food, don’t they?
The boys beat the girl, didn't they?

When the subject is singular and the verb in the main sentence is in the present-simple we form the question tag with does/doesn’t.
🔹Alison likes tennis, doesn't she?

When the subject is plural in nature and the statement is in the present tense too, use --do/don't.
🔹They play the guitar, don't they?

If the verb is in the past-simple we use did/didn't irrespective of whether the subject is singular or plural.
🔹They went to the cinema, didn't they?
🔹She studied in New Zealand, didn't she?


RULE 6
When 'there is', 'there are', and 'there were' are used in the main clause, 'there' should also be used in the tag.

There were series of outbreaks in the past few years, weren't there?

RULE 7
If a statement contains two or more auxillary verbs, the first one should be used alongside the pronoun form of the subject to form the question tag
🌈E.g

The women should have informed me earlier,---?
A.should they
B.have they
C.shouldn't they✅
D.haven't they
Look at this statement, we have two auxiliary verbs “ should” and “have” but the first one should be used alongside the pronoun form of the subject.
So, shouldn’t they✅ not haven’t they❌

RULE 8
When there is order and appeal refer in a sentence then question tag
will be “won’t you”.
Ex. shut the door, won’t you?

If there is order or offer for something to a person then also
question tag will be “will you/would you”.
Have a cup of coffee, would you?

In case of referring impatience question tag “can’t you” should be used.
Shut your mouth, can’t you?

The apostrophe is generally used for living things to show ownership.

RULE 5🔥
When a "proper name" ends in "s" ,sometimes apostrophe and another -s (I.e 's) is used while other times, we use apostrophe (') only without adding another-s.

💫The truth is it depends on the proper name.

💫 If the proper name is "classical,biblical,or historical name" that ends in -s and the name is a "general or common name in this era", or if the name is "contemporary to this era" or a "general name people bear around us", then it should take "apostrophe" and another-S (I.e 's) for ownership.

💫Also, if the name "is not a classical ,is not a biblical,or is not a historical name" and it ends in -S , it should take "apostrophe" and another -S (I.e 'S) for ownership

💫For example

💫Note: The only exception here is "Moses" as the possessive form is (Moses')and not (Moses's).

💫In other words, when using Moses(which is a proper name that ends with -S) for ownership or possession, it should take only apostrophe (') after the -s it ends with without the inclusion of another -s after the apostrophe.
For example
Moses's rod❎
Moses' rod✅

Also if the proper name "is a classical, biblical or historical name" that ends with -S and "it is not a general name in this era" or if the proper name "is not contemporary to this era" or if it "is not a common name people bear around us" ,then it should take "only the apostrophe (')" after the -S it ends with ,without the inclusion of another-S after the apostrophe.

For example:

Archilles' heels
Hercules' strength e.t.c

Please note
Generally Possession is (‘-s) right

But the only exception when -s is not added and just the apostrophe sign (‘) is used is when:
1. When a plural end with ‘s
E.g ladies, boys. It will be ladies’ bag, boys’ shoes

2. When you use Moses for ownership or possession
E.g Moses’ rod

3. If the name is a biblical name and it’s not a common name people bear around us
E.g. Jesus’ name

RULE 6🔥

When two or more persons jointly own a thing (i.e when there is unity in the ownership or when they co-own the thing), the last person appropriately takes the apostrophe (') and S

1. This is Nosa and Franka's shop
2. This is Ebuka ,Johnson and Osayi's house

💫Note: If there is disunity in the ownership (I.e if there is separate ownership or if they own the thing individually ), each person takes the apostrophe (') and S appropriately.

When someone possesses something and that thing possesses another thing, both possesses should appropriately take the apostrophe (') and S .

💫 In other words, If A possesses B and B possesses C ,then A and B should take the apostrophe (') and -S

If you're reading this congratulations!.
Wale and Chinedu graduated from Bright Genius secondary school, both were very intelligent and great students in the science discipline. They applied to study Mechanical engineering and Medicine respectively.
