Honouring Heritage, Ensuring Excellence: Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027! 🔱
Chaired a meeting regarding the preparations for the successful organisation of the ‘Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027’ — a vibrant symbol of India’s spiritual heritage, tradition, and culture. Also had a meaningful discussion with the Mahants of various Akhadas.
The Kumbh Parva truly begins! As the Akhadas and Mahants lead the grand procession, we are all set to offer the best-ever support & facilities. This time, with more planning time than in 2015, preparations are in full swing. The rich experience of the Mahants will help make this Kumbh even more special and unforgettable.
Tenders worth ₹4000 crore have already been issued, and additional tenders worth ₹2000 crore are in process — all focused on making this Kumbh truly grand. A key priority is to keep the Godavari River clean and continuously flowing. Sewage management and STP projects worth approximately ₹1200 crore will commence soon to prevent polluted water from entering the river. All plans are monsoon-ready to ensure smooth execution.
Essential amenities for the Akhadas will be provided. Land for a permanent Sadhugram will be acquired. A robust road network is being developed, with special planning to manage crowds at Kushavart Kund.
Additionally, a ₹681 crore development plan for Chaundi — the birthplace of Punyashlok Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar — has been prepared. Her historic ghats will also be preserved with top-class facilities being created.
The Kumbh stands as a proud symbol of Sanatan culture, attracting the attention of the entire world. This Simhastha Kumbh Mela will be grand, divine, and truly unforgettable.
Minister Girish Mahajan, Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Mahants of various Akhadas, and other dignitaries were present at the meeting.

A visit to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences campus was very nice. More than just infrastructure, it reflects thoughtful vision and purposeful planning — the kind that shapes the future of healthcare education.
Marking 25 years of impactful contribution, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has made medical education accessible across the State. A university’s growth goes beyond academics and curriculum — the world’s top institutions thrive as Centres of Excellence and Incubation, driving research, nurturing innovators, and shaping the future of their fields.
Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, the New Education Policy has positively transformed the way we view the education sector. It’s encouraging to see our universities now driving meaningful initiatives. Earlier, there was a gap between academic learning and job market needs; however, curriculum are being shaped with industry in mind. In this context, the 'Chakra' model based on the Hub and Spoke system, along with the concept of Centres of Excellence, holds great significance.
We aim to enhance healthcare over the next 2 to 4 years, providing families with up to ₹5 lakh health insurance under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. We are working to ensure 50% of surgeries and treatments under this scheme occur within State-run institutions. Previously, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences partnered with the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur for a significant Tribal Health program.
A Centre of Excellence, based on the Hub and Spoke model, now includes Tribal Health, Genetic Care, and Genetic Studies. As universities worldwide move towards self-reliance, India is expected to follow, making such initiatives vital. Efforts to drive positive change in healthcare through technology and startups are underway.
