➡️ Why are young people—in the US and around the world—shifting right?
I wrote about a phenomenon I call Generation C—the young people whose experience with COVID's health, political, and economic crises caused a strong shift right among young ppl across the developed world.
In the U.S., between 2020 and 2024, voters under 30 (and esp young men) shifted ~20 points toward the GOP. In Germany, France, Portugal, Finland, and beyond, young voters seem to be swinging their support toward anti-establishment far-right parties in numbers exceeding older voters.
What's going on? Probably many things. The world is an incumbent's graveyard right now (cf John Burn-Murdoch). Inflation is a scourge. Immigration is creating headaches for centrist/progressive parties throughout Europe.
But I also think that, in ways both obvious and non-obvious, this is a COVID phenomenon. The pandemic era didn't just demolish faith in scientific and political elites. It also strongly increased alone time, sending young men and women in highly gendered social-media spaces, where the youngest men in particular seem to have become significantly more anti-feminist and open to right-wing influencers and parties.

Feelings of shame and guilt are surprisingly common during psilocybin experiences, affecting most users. However, a new study reveals that constructively working through these emotions, rather than avoiding them, is linked to improved wellbeing afterward.

He who sees the Supreme Lord abiding alike in all beings, and not perishing when they perish— verily he alone sees.
~ Gita 13.28
Paramatma, the lord is present in all beings equally. It is not that He is more present in some and less present in others. He is like the string inside a garland of flowers.
The supreme Lord is present in all equally.
The vehicles of the body, Prana, mind etc., perish at the time of death. But Atma, the Lord is indestructible. He exists. It is clear that the whole of the objective world perishes and Atma, the Lord alone is eternal.
Therefore to let go of the bond of attachment to the perishable things, and to strengthen the firm hold of the Lord, is the duty of all thoughtful people.
The physical eyes are formed to see material things only. They cannot see anything more.
But the vision of the saints goes deeper and discovers the eternal principle of life, the Supreme Lord, in the midst of the material world.
It is the eye of Knowledge that sees Atma, the Lord. He alone sees, because he sees the truth.
All others, though having eyes, do not see the truth whatever their power and position, wealth and beauty may be.
So, the aspirants should open the inner eye of knowledge, see the truth and become fearless of death.
They would realise that what is perishing is only the body, and the Lord, Atma is Eternal, pure and perfect.
This knowledge alone saves man from the terrors of death.
