I freely hate on ideas that limit the freedom, sacredness or potential of the human spirit.

They frustrate me to my core.

But what I don’t hate, is the people who adopt these ideas.

Because I understand why they would.

I understand why someone would want easy answers to life’s hardest questions.

I understand why someone would want right and wrong conveniently laid out for them.

I understand why people would value comfort and community over truth and integrity.

All these things genuinely make sense to me and I have real compassion for the pain people avoid with these tactics.

The world is a tough, scary, difficult place sometimes and I completely understand wanting to make it a bit more comfortable, safe or predictable.

I’ve done it, I probably still do it and you probably do too.

And if you’ve actually overcome this to any real degree, you know it wasn’t hate or shame that helped you come back to yourself.
