In any just society, those who dedicate their lives to healing others must not be left to suffer in silence. Ethiopian doctors - one of the pillar professions in any country - are enduring daily injustices through chronic underpayment, lack of access to healthcare, absence of continuous professional development opportunities, and even threats to their peace and safety.

It is excruciating to hear that many cannot afford house rent or eat three meals a day. I hear some residents are forced to abandon their training - not due to lack of ability or commitment, but because living in Addis Ababa has become unaffordable.

In a world that historically values and respects its doctors, Ethiopia’s professionals are left to struggle - and yet, we still ask them to "be model citizens" and to serve selflessly.

From an equity and social justice perspective, this neglect is not only a policy and vision failure but a moral and structural injustice with far-reaching consequences.

The neglect of doctors is not only an injustice to them but a threat to the entire healthcare system. A demoralized and unsupported medical workforce undermines the quality of medical education, compromises access to equitable and quality health care and reinforces inequality in health outcomes.

The nation consistently calls upon its doctors and health professionals during moments of crisis—pandemics, conflicts, and disasters—yet fails to uphold its end of the social contract.

The path forward is not just about higher salaries - it’s about restoring dignity. Ensuring doctors are supported is not merely about workforce sustainability but about fulfilling a moral and social responsibility to those who bear the heaviest burden in protecting public health. Providing fair compensation, decent housing support, health insurance, and professional growth opportunities is not charity but justice. A nation that expects its doctors to serve excellently must also ensure that they can live and serve with honor and dignity. This is not about charity. It is about doing what is right.

Social justice demands that those who care for the nation are cared for in return. Equity means leveling the playing field for those who hold up our health system so they can live, learn, and serve with dignity. Investing in doctors is not an act of kindness bit a a moral imperative and a national duty. Failing to do so is not just unfair—it is unjust.

በ2024 በተደረገ ጥናት ከአለም ሀገራት ለስፔሻሊስት ሀኪሞች ዝቅተኛውን ወርሃዊ ደመወዝ ከሚከፍሉ የመጨረሻ ሀገራት ተርታ ኢትዮጵያ ሱዳንን ቀድማ ከግርጌ ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ላይ ተቀምጣ ነበር። በ2025 የዶላር ምንዛሬ ከጨመረ በኃላ ደግሞ ከአለም ሀገራት ለስፔሻሊስት ዶክተሮቿ ከመቶ ዶላር በታች ወርሃዊ ደመወዝ የምትከፍል የመጨረሻዋ ሀገር ሆናለች!

የጤና ሚኒስቴር የጤና ባለሙያዎች የጀመሩትን የህልውና ጥያቄ ላይ የተመሠረተ ሠላማዊ የትግል እንቅስቃሴ አስመልክቶ '' ስራ የማቆም አድማ የሚያደርጉ አይመስለኝም!'' ሲል ለDW ምላሽ ሰጥቷል!

አንድ በተፈጥሯዊ መንገድ መተንፈስ አቅቶት በህክምና ታግዞ እየተነፈሰ ያለን ፅኑ ታማሚ ኦክስጅን የሚያገኝበት ቲዩብ ሲነቀል ምን ሊሆን ይችላል?

የጤና ሚኒስቴርም የሰጠው ይሄን በመኖርና ባለመኖር መካከል የሚገኝ የህክምና ባለሙያ ''መተንፈሻህን እነቅልብሃለሁ!'' ብሎ ከማስፈራራት ያልተናነሰ ኢ-ሰብአዊ ምላሽ ነው!

እዚቹ ኢ-ኢፍትሃዊነት መገለጫዋ በሆነ ሀገር ላይ ፥ በወር ከ5ሺ ዶላር በላይ የሚከፈላቸው የፖለቲከኛ አማካሪዎችን ፣ ከ240ሺህ ብር በላይ ወርሃዊ የኪስ ጉርሻ የሚሠጣቸው የስርአቱ የፌስቡክ አክቲቪስቶችን እናውቃለን! ከ27 አመት በላይ የሚሆን እድሜውን በትምህርት ያሳለፈ ፥ ከፈጣሪ በታች ውድ የሆነውን የሰው ልጅ ህይወት የመታደግ ኃላፊነትና ሙያን የያዘው አንድ ስፔሻሊስት ዶክተር ግን ወርሃዊ ደመወዙ ከ100 ዶላር በታች ነው!😢

የጤና ባለሙያዎች የጀመሩት ሰላማዊ ትግል የሁሉንም ኢትዮጵያውያን ሰራተኞች ጥያቄ ያነገበ ነው!! አጋርነትና ድጋፍ ያስፈልጋቸዋል!

መብት ይጠየቃል እንጂ አይለመንም! ጥያቄአቸው የቅንጦት ሳይሆን የመኖርና ያለመኖር ጉዳይ ነው! በማያቋርጥ ስቃይ ውስጥ ከመኖር አለመኖር ይሻላል!

የሀኪሞች ሲዖል

የኢትዮጲያ ሀኪሞች ችግር ከ Pacific ውቅያኖሱ Mariyana trench ይሰረጉዳል ። ከ Calofornia death valley ይልቅም እጅግ የሚያቃጥል ነው። የችግሩ ስርጉደትና ቃጠሎ ኢትዮጲያን የሀኪሞች የምድር ላይ ሲዖል ያደረገ ነው። ከአለም ዝቅተኛውን ክፍያ የምትከፍል። ከሃገራችን ኢኮኖሚ ያነሰ ያላቸው ሃገራት ከሚከፍሉት 10 እጥፍ ያነሰ እየተከፈለን ቁጥሩ እጅግ የሚበልጥ ህዝብ እያገለገልን እንገኛለን።

በየጊዜው በማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ስንጮህ ብታዩን አትፍረዱብን፤ ሲኦል ውስጥ እንደሚኖር አንድ ነፍስ የሚጠበቅ ነገር ነው። ከገቢ አንፃር ስናየው የአንድ ሃኪምን የ30 ቀን ደሞዝ የሌሎች ሃገሮች የጤና ሙያተኞች በሰዓታት ውስጥ ያገኙታል። ከሙያዊ ክብርም አንፃር በጣም ያነሰ ቦታ የሚሰጠው ዘርፍ ነው ። የኪነ-ጥበብ ስራዎቻችን የሀኪምን ሙያዊ ልህቀት ከማሳየት የሀኪምን ስህተት ማሳየት ይቀላቸዋል። ይሄም ልክ እንደ ጨው ያልገባበት ፊልም ፈልጎ ማግኘት በጣም አስቸጋሪ ሆኗል። ይህ የሚሆነው እንግዲህ የግራ ጎኑን መቁጠር ተስኖት የወንድ የግራ ጎን ከሴት የግራ ጎን በአንድ ያንሳል ብሎ የሚያስብ እና የሚፅፍ ደራሲ ባለበት ሃገር ውስጥ ነው።

ቀላል የማይባል የህብተረተሰብ ክፍልም የገጠመውን የጤና ችግር ከሀኪሙ ጋር ያያይዘዋል። ልክ ኮሶ ተሸክሞ ሄዶ የኮሶ መድሃኒት ቀምሞ የሸጠለትን ባለሙያ "የኮሶ ሻጭ" ብሎ እንደሚጠራው አይነት ማለት ነው።

ቢያንስ ለስራችን በሚመጥን ክፍያ ያጣነውን ደስታ ... የማክመው ህዝብ አውቆልኛል በሚል job satifaction'ናችንን ጭምር እንገፈፋለን።

እንደዚሁ አይነት አስተሳሰብም ይመስለኛል መንግስት ለዘርፉ አናሳ ትኩረት እንዲሰጥ ያደረገው። እንጂ የሰው ህይወት ዋጋ ቀሎበት፤ ሀኪም እዚ ለመድረስ የከፈለው ዋጋ አንሶበት፤ ትጋትን መሸለም ዘንግቶ ፤ ከሰው ልብ ሰው ሰራሽ ኮምፒውተር በልጦበት አይመስለኝም።

ህክምና ቦታ ... የሰው ችግር በጆሮውም በማዳመጫውም ሲሰማ ውሎ የሚገባ ሀኪም ቤቱ ውስጥም የራሱን እና የቤተሰቡን ችግር ሲሰማ ቢያድር ሊታዘንለት ይገባል። በመንግስት ደረጃ ለተነፈገው ስፍራ እና ለተቀበለው ዝልፊያ ይፋዊ ይቅርታም ያሻል።

A Doctor’s Journey: A Climb to the Summit

It begins quietly, like the first step of a long and hidden mountain trail.
A child sits at a desk, pencil in hand, chasing perfect grades like a young explorer chasing the stars, dedicating your day actively to follow your class and your night going through your books delving into deep subject knowledge-knowing that the air at the top is thin, and only the persistent rise.

Medical school is no gentle plateau. It is a vertical wall. Students become warriors of the mind, memorizing the human body’s secrets, stitching knowledge into skill. Two years lost inside books and cadavers, two more inside hospitals, racing from one patient to the next, learning to think, move, and heal like a doctor, with no summer breaks in between.

They give up birthdays, holidays, and countless small joys. They sacrifice their twenties—and sometimes their thirties—for a future they believe will honor all the price.

And yet, when they finally stand at the summit—white coat on, stethoscope worn thin by years of service—they are handed a paycheck worth only 70 dollars a month.

After all the nights spent crying in hospital stairwells.
After all the exams that stole their peace.
After all the lives they fought to save before even building one of their own.

Seventy dollars.
For the years.
For the broken backs and battered hearts.
For the dream they bled for.

It is a cruel joke whispered in the halls of healing—a reminder that even the brightest dreams can be met with the coldest reality
