Jordan Chadwick, whose body with his hands tied behind his back was found in a sump in Kramatorsk, was tortured and killed by another Briton, investigators believe.
The mercenary's fellow soldiers claim Chadwick was tortured with water and the water in his lungs was not the same as where he was found 32 kilometres from the front line in Bakhmut.
The former Scots Guardsman served in a secret unit called 50/50, attached to Ukraine's military intelligence service.
Chadwick became the second mercenary to go missing "under mysterious circumstances".
"The deaths of the two British volunteers has spread fear among others who flocked to help Ukraine fight Russia," The Sun wrote.
