The final FY 2025 NDAA-IAA (H.R. 5009) contains provisions to beef up the ability of different agencies to deal in a more effective and coordinated manner with "unmanned aircraft systems incursions." Section 925 requires the Secretary of Defense to establish a new "counter unmanned aerial systems task force, to be known as the 'C-UAS Task Force.'"
Section 1089 requires the AARO director to appoint one or more AARO staff as liaisons to the new C-UAS Task Force.
Sections 6701-6703 make a number of changes in existing laws dealing with "protected disclosures" by whistleblowers to inspectors general within the Intelligence Community. I do not have the specialized competence to analyze how these new provisions alter the complex and confusing current array of laws pertaining to IC whistleblowers.
