The art of seeing the invisible: from mysterious rays to high technology

On November 8, 1895, German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered mysterious X-rays. His discovery, for which he became the first ever Nobel Laureate in physics, made a real revolution. Today, without radiological diagnostic methods, it is impossible to imagine either accurate diagnosis, monitoring of treatment, or the work of emergency services.

Modern radiology is a whole universe of high technologies: computer and magnetic resonance imaging, PET, ultrasound and interventional radiology.

The Department of Radiation Diagnostics at the Institute of Biomedicine (MBF) of Pirogov University trains students at six institutes, because today any doctor, regardless of his specialty, must competently use the possibilities of radiation diagnostics — not just by "reading" the images, but by building an effective examination algorithm to obtain maximum information at minimal cost.

The Roentgenology residency program trains not just diagnosticians, but doctors-thinkers who are able to see the whole picture of the disease. Graduates, working in leading clinics, keep in touch with their alma mater, continue their scientific work and improve their skills at the School of Professional Growth.

The Voice of Science of the Future: present your research to Russia's leading infectious disease specialists

Students, residents, postgraduates, doctors and researchers under the age of 35 are invited to participate. The event will take place within the framework of the XXIV Annual Congress of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialists of Russia with international participation "Topical issues of infectious pathology and vaccine prevention".

The Young Scientists Competition is a great chance to present their scientific research to a reputable community, receive valuable feedback from leading experts in the field of infectious diseases, and make useful professional acquaintances.

Anniversary Haaza readings: where new medical hypotheses are born

The XV International (XX All-Russian) Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Haaza readings: "Hurry up to do good ..." will be held at Pirogov University.

This will be a lively discussion dedicated to the analysis of the most complex and unusual clinical cases. This is where alternative diagnoses are formed and clinical thinking is honed.

Participants of the event will be able to share their experiences with colleagues, test their skills in diagnostic search and defend therapeutic tactics in the sections "Therapy", "Surgery" and "Pediatrics".

The format is optional: oral or poster presentation.

The guest of honor and key speaker of the conference will be Nadezhda Bylova, Acting Rector of the Northern State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

From donor to recipient: scientific and educational event of the "School of Young Transplant Specialist"

The discussion will focus on a key link in transplantation: "Working with donors and bone marrow registers: organization, logistics, risks." As part of the discussion, it is planned to destroy myths and show from the inside how this well-established but extremely fragile system functions, on which human lives directly depend.

In a live dialogue format, experts will analyze the entire chain step by step, from the origins of the Russian registry to the development of the global database. Participants will learn about the intricacies of international logistics: how to safely deliver an invaluable biomaterial anywhere in the world, which determines the timing of the search for a "genetic twin". The topic of financial and organizational mechanisms will also be raised.

Special emphasis will be placed on the two sides of donation. Including on the social side, a conversation is planned about the motivation and value of donation, and this topic will be revealed through the donor's experience and real clinical cases. We will also talk about the professional side — there will be an open conversation about what a specialist needs to know (risks, possible complications and global statistics).

Following the meeting, the participants will weigh the pros and cons, find ways to minimize risks, and formulate effective algorithms for informing donors, because honesty is the foundation of trust in this process.
