The Prohibition of Littering ⚠️

▪️Ibn ul-’Uthaymeen rahimahullah:

“The conclusion is that everything that harms should be removed from the street. You will be rewarded for that deed. Therefore, if removing harm from the street is an act of charity, then throwing harm in the street is a sin. Amongst those who are sinful are those who throw their garbage in the middle of the street.”

📖 [Sharh Riyaadul-Saliheen (1/290) no. 248]

▪️Shaikh Abdul-Muhsin al-’Abbad was asked:

Question:

What is the ruling on throwing harm in the street?

Answer:

“No doubt it is sinful for him to throw harm instead of removing it from the street. This is similar to one who urinates in the street. However his statement sallahu alayhi wa salam: “Beware of the two sources of curses” is intended to mean the one who relieves himself in the street or the shade of the people which they use to shade”

📖 [Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 594]

▪️The danger of Throwing Harm in the Street

Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas said:

“Beware of action that will incur cursing: that a person throw his garbage in the street. So no one passes the street except he says: may Allah curse the one who did this”

📖 [al-Musaawi ul-Akhlaaq of Kharaaiti no. 800 with the a Saheeh chain ]

▪️Reward of Removing Something Harmful From the Street

The Prophet sallahu alayhi wa salam said:

Removing harmful things from the way is charity

📖 [Agreed Upon]

▪️And he said:

And removing something harmful from the street is charity or prayer

▪️[Reported by al-Bazzar (1/438) and al-Haythami said in al-Majma’: reported by Abu Ya’la, Bazzar, and Tabarani in al-Kabir

▪️Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen rahimahullah said:

“If you find in the street a rock or glass or thorns or other than that, then remove it, then that is from Imaan. Even cars which are parked in the middle of the street and make it narrow for the people. So they harm the people in the street and removing that is from Imaan”

📖 [Sharh Riyaadh us-Saliheen (1/736)]

▪️What if you cannot remove it?

Shaikh Ibn ul-’Uthaymeen said: “so like this it is necessary to remove the harm from the street. If he is not able to, like there is a big rock or piles of sand or the likes, then let him convey it to the Municipality, for example, because they are responsible for this. So let him convey it to them so that he can be from those who help in righteousness and piety”

📖 [Sharh Riyaadh-us-Saliheen (1/736)]

▪️Question:

“Is it allowed to say that the one who throws something harmful in the street is deficient in Imaan?”

Answer:

“Yes, not doubt he is deficient in Imaan because this is abuse and harm to the people”

📖 [Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood no. 594]
We Do It For The Sake Of Allaah!

▪️Imam Muwaffaq ad-Deen ibn Qudaamah al-Maqdisi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked:

What do the fuqaha’ (may Allah bless them) say about one who listens to the duff (hand-drum), flute and singing, and get carried away until he starts to dance? Is that permissible or not? He believes that he loves Allah and that his listening to it, getting carried away and dancing are for the sake of Allah! Please advise us, may Allah reward you and have mercy on you.

He said:

The one who does that is mistaken and is lacking in decency. The one who persists in doing those things is one whose testimony is to be rejected according to sharee‘ah, and his opinion is not to be accepted. The implication of that is that his narration of hadeeth from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is not to be accepted, and neither is his testimony with regard to sighting the new moon of Ramadan, or anything pertaining to religious matters.

With regard to him believing that it is based on love of Allah, we say that he could show his love for Allah and obedience towards Him in other ways, and he could show devotion to Allah, may He be glorified, and do righteous deeds in other ways. But as for this, it is a sin and playing about. It was condemned by Allah, may He be exalted, and His Messenger, and was disliked (regarded as makrooh) by the scholars, who called it an innovation (bid‘ah) and forbade people to do it. We cannot draw close to Allah, may He be glorified, by doing acts of disobedience to Him, and He cannot be obeyed by doing things that He has forbidden. The one who commits sin as a means of drawing closer to Him will be met with rejection; the one who takes idle pursuits and playing about as acts of religious devotion is like one who spreads mischief in the land. The one who seeks to reach Allah, may He be glorified, via a way other than the way and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), is far from reaching his goal

📖 Dhamm ash-Shabbaabah wa’r-Raqs wa’s-Samaa‘ by Ibn Qudaamah, MS (p. 2)

▪️The scholars of the Standing Committee were asked:

Is the dhikr that some people in Egypt and some rural areas do in accordance with Islamic teaching? For example they stand and sway right and left, whilst reciting the name of Allah.

They replied:

We do not know of any basis for this action in the religion of Allah; rather it is an innovation and is contrary to the laws prescribed by Allah. Those who do it should be denounced, especially when one is able to do that, because the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever introduces into this matter of ours something that is not part of it will have it rejected.” Agreed upon.

📖 End quote from Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa’imah (2/521)
I Want To Be A Devoted Slave Of Allaah!

▪️The sincere believer has a heart like a burning coal, hence it was narrated by al-Haakim that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Faith wears out in your heart as clothes wear out, so ask Allaah to renew the faith in your hearts.”

📖 Al-Mustadrak; 5, Grade: Sahih according to Al-Albani

▪️The believer’s heart may sometimes feel overwhelmed by clouds of sin. This was portrayed to us by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) when he said:

“There is no heart that does not have clouds like the clouds that cover the moon. When the cloud covers it, it is dark, and when the cloud moves away it shines.”

📖 Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Awsat, and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.

So the believer’s heart is sometimes covered with a cloud and its light is hidden, and it remains dark and lonely, but if he strives to increase his store of faith and seeks the help of Allaah, that cloud goes away and the light in his heart starts to shine again.

Hence one of the salaf said: “It is part of a person’s smartness to check on his faith and be aware of what affects it.” It is also part of a person’s smartness “that he recognizes how the Shaytaan whispers to him.”

So he has to come back to faith. If you come back to faith and do as it requires, then you will achieve what you want. We will tell you of a basic principle which will let you know when faith is present and when it is not.

▪️Imam Ibn al-Jawzi said: “O you who are turned away, O you who are deprived of meeting your loved ones, if you want to know how you stand before the king, then look at how you are spending your time and what work you are assigned to do. How many people stand at the door of the king, but no one enters except the one whom he cares for. Not every heart is fit to draw close, not every heart can be filled with love, not every wind is like the morning breeze.”

If a person want to know how he stands before Allaah and how he stands in relation to His commands and prohibitions, let him look at himself and see what he is preoccupied with. If he is busy with da’wah and with saving people from the Fire, striving to attain Paradise, helping the weak and needy, honouring his parents, then let him rejoice in the fact that he is close to the King of kings, for Allaah does not help anyone to do good except those whom He loves.

But if he is has no interest in da’wah, dislikes the daa’iyahs and does not do good things, if he is preoccupied with this world and its gains, and with gossip and asking too many questions, whilst not doing much or following his whims and desires, let him know that he is far from Allaah and has been deprived of that which will bring him closer to Paradise, because Allaah says in His holy Book (interpretation of the meaning):

“Whoever desires the quick-passing (transitory enjoyment of this world), We readily grant him what We will for whom We like. Then, afterwards, We have appointed for him Hell; he will burn therein disgraced and rejected ( far away from Allaah’s Mercy).

And whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it (i.e. does righteous deeds of Allaah’s obedience) while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allaah Islamic Monotheism) — then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated, (thanked and rewarded by Allaah)”

📖 [al-Isra’ 17:18-19]

▫️My brother, if you want to have a high position in all kinds of good deeds, to be a devoted slave of Allaah and to honour your parents, and you are seeking Paradise, then you have to do the following:

1 – You have to revive the faith in your heart. Faith is what will bring the Muslim everything he seeks in this world and in the Hereafter. Faith is the key to all goodness and locks the door to all evil. The means of reviving and strengthening faith in one’s heart are many and varied, including doing a lot of acts of worship and righteous deeds.

2 – You must turn to your Lord sincerely, as it says in the report: “If My slave turns to me inwardly and
outwardly, I will turn the hearts of My slaves to him with love and mercy.”

Allaah has made worship the ultimate aim and loftiest purpose of man:

“And I (Allaah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone)”

📖 [al-Dhaariyaat 51:56 – interpretation of the meaning)]

3 – You should always set your sights on the highest degrees, and make your goal in life to earn the pleasure of Allaah, and strive to attain the victory of Paradise, or to attain the highest Firdaws. You should strive as hard as you can to achieve these lofty aims.

4 – You should follow the example of historical Muslim figures such as the Sahaabah, Taabi’een and righteous forebears (the salaf).

5 – You should make the most of every minute, every moment and every heartbeat to use it in such a way as to increase your faith.

6 – You should try to keep company with righteous people, because the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “A man will follow the religion of his close friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends.” Narrated by Abu Dawood and al-Tirmidhi with a hasan isnaad. Good friends are one of the best means of helping you to obey Allaah and to avoid sin and error.

7 – Doing a lot of righteous deeds which will bring you happiness in this world and in the Hereafter.

8 – Praying qiyaam al-layl, making du’aa’ in the time just before dawn. The feet of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to swell because of his desire to be a thankful slave, even though Allaah had forgiven his previous and future sins.

9 – Persisting in reading a portion of Qur’aan daily, and other dhikr that helps you to think and ponder the meanings of the Qur’aan.

10 – Striving to spread the word and make da’wah for the sake of Allaah, and working for Islam as much as possible.
Praying in Shoes 👟

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) prayed wearing his shoes.

▪️In al-Saheeh it is narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) lead us in prayer whilst he was wearing his shoes, then he took them off [whilst still praying], and the people took their shoes off too. When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said the Tasleem [at the end of the prayer], they said: “O Messenger of Allaah, you took off your shoes, so we took off our shoes too.” He said: “Jibreel came to me and told me that there was some dirt on them, so I took them off. When any one of you comes to the mosque, let him look at his shoes, and if he sees any dirt on them, let him wipe them. And they can be purified with dust.”

📖 (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 650).

▪️The point here is that praying in shoes is permissible. It says in the hadeeth:

“Be different from the Jews, pray wearing your slippers or shoes.”

📖 (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 652).

▫️But the condition is that the shoes must be taahir (pure, clean). If there is any najaasah (impurity) or dirt on the shoes, then one should not pray wearing them, unless he is sure that they are free of impurity or dirt.

▪️It was narrated from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“If a woman does her five (daily prayers), fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her chastity and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: Enter whichever of the gates of Paradise you want.”

📖 Narrated by Ahmad (1/191). The editors of al-Musnad said: It is hasan li ghayrihi (hasan because of corroborating evidence). It was classed as hasan by al-Albani in Saheeh al-Targheeb (1932).

▪️It was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Shall I not tell you about your men in Paradise?” We said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “The Prophet will be in Paradise, the Siddeeq will be in Paradise, the man who visits his brother who lives far away and visits him only for the sake of Allah will be in Paradise. Shall I not tell you about your women in Paradise?” We said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “The loving and fertile one who, if she gets angry or is mistreated or her husband gets angry says, ‘Here is my hand in your hand, I shall not sleep until you are pleased.’”

📖 Narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Awsat (2/206). It was also narrated from a number of other Sahabah, hence it was classed as hasan by al-Albani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (3380) and in Saheeh al-Targheeb (1942).

▪️And it was narrated from Husayn ibn Muhsin (may Allah be pleased with him)

that his paternal aunt went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) concerning some need and he met her need, then he said: “Do you have a husband?” She said: Yes. He said: “How are you with him?” She said: I do what he tells me, except what is beyond me. He said: “Look at how you are with him, for he is your Paradise and your Hell.”

📖 Narrated by Ahmad (4/341). The editors of al-Musnad said: Its isnad may be understood to be hasan. al-Mundhiri said: A jayyid (good) isnad. It was classed as saheeh by al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak (6/383) and al-Albani in Saheeh al-Targheeb (1933).

▪️It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“The most perfect of the believers in faith is the one who is best in attitude, and the best of you is the one who is best in attitude towards his womenfolk.”

📖 Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1162); he said it is a hasan saheeh hadeeth. It was classed as saheeh by al-Albani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi. Please see also the answer to question no. 43123.

⚠️ Giving Up On Life ⚠️

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

▫️Suicide is a major sin, and the one who does that is faced with a warning of eternity in the Fire of Hell, where Allaah will punish him with the means that he used to commit suicide.

▪️It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be throwing himself down in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever drinks poison and kills himself will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron will have that iron in his hand, thrusting it into his belly in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever.”

📖 Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5442) and Muslim (109),

▪️It was narrated from Thaabit ibn Dahhaak (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Whoever kills himself with something will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection.”

📖 Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5700) and Muslim (110).

▪️It was narrated that Jundub ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said:

“A man among those who came before you was wounded. He panicked and took a knife and cut his hand, and the bleeding did not stop until he died. Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, said: ‘My slave hastened his death; I have forbidden Paradise to him.”

📖 Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3276) and Muslim (113).

▫️The believer has to be patient and to seek the help of Allaah, may He be exalted, and understand that no matter what hardship befalls him in this world -- no matter how severe it is -- the punishment of the Hereafter is worse than it. It is not acceptable according to anyone who is of right mind to run away from the heat of the desert and throw himself into the fire. How can he flee from temporary hardship and difficulty -- which inevitably will come to an end -- to an eternal punishment which has no end?

The Muslim should ponder and realise that he is not the only one in this world who is affected by calamity and hardship. Calamities befell the greatest of mankind, namely the Prophets, Messengers and the righteous. They also befell the worst of mankind, namely the disbelievers and atheists.

Calamity is part of the natural order of things and hardly anyone is safe from it.

If the believer handles it well and is patient, and it becomes a means that makes him turn back to Allaah and strive hard in worship and righteous deeds, then the calamity will have been good for him and will be expiation for his sins, and perhaps he will meet Allaah with no burden of sin.

▪️The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said:

“No pain, hardship, sickness or grief befalls a believer, not even worry that befalls him, but some of his bad deeds will be expiated.”

📖 Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5642) and Muslim (2573).

▪️It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Calamities will continue to befall believing men and women in themselves, their children and their wealth, until they meet Allaah with no burden of sin.”

📖 Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi (2399), Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth al-Saheehah (2280).

And Allaah knows best.
▪️Abu Sa’eed Al-Khadimi reported: A man said to Hasan Al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him:

“Indeed, someone has backbitten you.” Hasan sent a dish of sweet dates to the backbiter and he said, “I heard that you have given me your good deeds as a gift, so I want to repay you for it, but please excuse me for I am unable to completely repay you.”

▪️Ja’far ibn Burqan reported:

I said to a man from Basra, “How can one of us continue to kneel before his Lord seeking his forgiveness for a sin, then he returns to it, then again he seeks forgiveness, then again he returns to it?” It was mentioned to Al-Hasan Al-Basri and he said, “Satan wishes for you to think like this, so do not be discouraged from seeking forgiveness.”

What to say when entering the house

It’s widespread that when one enters the house he makes the following supplication

▪️Narrated AbuMalik Al-Ash’ari:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: When a man goes into his house, he should say: “O Allah! I ask Thee for good both when entering and when going out; in the name of Allah we have entered, and in the name of Allah we have gone out, and in Allah our Lord do we trust.” He should then greet his family.

But the correct stance regarding this narration is that it is weak due to a cut in the chain as Imam Al Albani clarified after previously authenticating it.

What does one say then?

▪️Imam An Nawawi said:

If he enters his house it is recommended to say “Bismillah”. He should increase from the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala, and he should give Salaam, whether there is a human in the house or not due to the statement of Allah Ta’alaa

فإذَا دَخَلْتُمْ بُيُوتاً فَسَلِّمُوا على أنْفُسِكُمُ تَحِيَّةً مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ مُبَارَكَةً طَيِّبَةً

But when you enter the houses, greet one another with a greeting from Allah (i.e. say: As-Salamu ‘Alaikum – peace be on you) blessed and good. [24:61]

📖 [Saheeh Al Athkaar An Nawawiya page 32]

▪️It comes from Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “If a person mentions the Name of Allah upon entering his house or eating, Satan says, addressing his followers: ‘You will find nowhere to spend the night and no dinner.’ But if he enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, Satan says (to his followers); ‘You have found (a place) to spend the night in, and if he does not mention the Name of Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: ‘You have found (a place) to spend the night in as well as food.”‘

📖 [Muslim].

▪️Also it comes from Anas Radiallahu Anhu he said that the messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said to me:

O my little son! When you enter upon your family then give the Salam, it will be a blessing for you and upon the inhabitants of your house.”

📖 [Reported by Imam At Tirmithi and declared Hassan by Ash Shaykh Al Albani in As Saheeh At Targheeb Wat Tarheeb and by Ash Shaykh Saleem Al Hilaali in Saheeh Al Athkaar An Nawawiyah page 32]

Wearing Pants

Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin Al-Abbaad was asked:

▪️Question:

What is the ruling of wearing the Qamees in Europe, that which is accustomed among them is wearing the pants and similar to it?

Answer:

Wearing the Qamees is something good, this is what is befitting because the Europeans when they come to us [i.e. our land], they wear their clothing. Thus why do we see Muslims when they go there take off their clothing and wear the clothing of the disbelievers?

Importance of Giving Salaam

Ash Shaykh Al Uthaymeen said:

▪️I always repeat this point to you ‘applying’ [that which you learn], whether it be in acts of worship, manners or in dealings. Apply it until it is known you are a student of knowledge, and act with that which you have learnt.

We will put forth an example: If one you passes by his brother, is it legislated for him that he gives him Salams?

The Answer:

Yes it is legislated, but I see many pass by his brothers and it is as if he passes by a pillar. He doesn’t give him Salams, and this is a great mistake. Whereas it is possible we criticize the general folk if they were to do similar to this act, then how can we not criticize the student? What will harm you if you said ‘As Salam Alaykum’? How many good deeds will you get? Ten rewards, which equal the whole world, ten good deeds. If it was said to the people, anyone who passes by his brother and gives him Salam he will be given ten Riyaal, you will find the people circling the markets so that they may give Salams, because he will obtain Riyaals. But ten good deeds, we are negligent in regards to it. Allahul Mustaan.

A Health Benefit

▪️Ash-Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-Uthaymeen, rahimahullah, said:

Playing Qur'aan in the car from speakers next to the feet

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked:

Q. In some cars the speakers are level with the feet, and feet or shoes may be placed on the speaker. My question is: when playing Qur'aan, is there any disrespect to the Book of Allah in doing this? Is this comparable to your fatwa against those who stretched out their feet in front of the Book of Allah? We hope that you can advise us, may Allah preserve you.

A. He replied: If the speakers are beneath the feet as described or are level with the feet, then you should not play Qur'aan, because the fact that the Qur'aan is being heard from beneath a person’s feet is undoubtedly a kind of disrespect towards the Qur'aan. If a person must listen to Qur'aan, then he should lift the speakers above the level of his feet.

◾️He who abandons the prayer is a disbeliever, and a disbeliever doesn’t hold guardianship over a believer◾️

Answered by Shaykh Abu Hamza Hassan bin Muhammed Ba Shu'ayb - may Allah preserve him - on the 17th, Muharram, 1439H

📝🔹Question:

A woman wants to get married however her father doesn’t pray.
Is it still possible for him to be her guardian?

If not, she has a maternal uncle that’s upright (in the religion), is it possible that he takes the position of guardianship over her?

📩🔸Answer:

It’s not permissible for her father to marry her off, while he’s in the condition of abandoning the prayer, and because a disbeliever does not have guardianship over a Muslim.

Likewise it’s not permissible for the (maternal) uncle to marry her off, as he’s not from the band of those that can take this place.
