@TheUnseenView: Pre Feb 2022 it was primarily a civilian airport.
Updated Google Earth imagery from 2024 show the presence of two Mil Mi-8 helicopters, they appear to be in camo (so likely operated by the military).
Hence I presume there's more military activity going on around the airport.

@Maks_NAFO_FELLA: This is why all Tu-95s and Tu-160s need to be destroyed. Russia had 3 operational Tu-160 bombers at Belaya air base. Ukraine decided not to attack them because they had barely been used in the war. Well, now they are going to be used to launch X-101 missiles.

Instead, Ukraine decided to spare all 3 Tu-160s and use dozens of drones to strike Tu-22M3s sitting nearby, which are much less impactful

The 40th's introduction into Sumy just came up in a separate thread and I recalled that I'd forgotten to include this fine fellow here.
He's among 8 other POWs taken in Kursk by🇺🇦Air Assault Forces/other units and shown in April.
