RT @USN_Submariner: Happy Monday, SUPRISE CREW!
OTD in 1960: Captain Edward L. Beach aboard USS Triton (SSRN-586), announcing the start of Operation Sandblast, the first submerged circumnavigation of the earth. The 36,000 nautical mile trip was proof of concept for long, undetected, submerged ops.

@Tatarigami_UA: On the economic and reconstitution side, Chinese offers could prove enticing for Ukraine, and if no one else steps up, it will be hard to blame Ukraine for seizing it.

It would be a bad outcome for the rest of Europe, but if it happens, our own inaction has brought it on.

@Shivak03: The outlook does seem bleak but a coalition of European countries could rise to the occasion.

@Tatarigami_UA: That is a very good point.

@Shivak03: I think you know I don't believe in European unity on security and defense issues.

Therefore, I think we will see blocks appearing , such as the Nordic-Baltics, trying to prepare as best we can together.

Lots of uncertainty still with the rest on how serious they actually are in spending more and how they see the potential threats from the east.

The UK leading a larger Northern European block would be preferable IMO, but they would need to begin a serious defense buildup first. Something that for now seems unlikely.

RT @John_A_Ridge: The proposed U.S. commitment is uselessly vague, which isn’t surprising.

The admin hasn’t asked Congress to enact additional authorities and appropriations for PDA, USAI, or FMF. Without Congressional action, the U.S. cannot legally obligate new security assistance to Ukraine. https://twitter.com/DAlperovitch/status/1891520376942776719#m
Ukraine Battle Map (Twitter)

@front_ukrainian: Meaning they would not be there to defend Ukraine. They are there as a show of force. Russia would be able to take cities like Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy before they reach any peacekeeping force, which would then withdraw since they aren’t obligated to defend Ukraine 🇺🇦

Ukraine Battle Map (Twitter)

@ukraine_map @front_ukrainian: The peacekeeping forces would likely be stationed far from the frontline. Possibly even farther like in Lviv or Kyiv. Be there as peacekeepers, and be insignificant enough to defend even 5% of the border from Russia, leaving massive gaps for Russia to attack Ukraine 🇺🇦
