RT @JamieMctrusty: 31st October, 1944: the Aarhus raid. Following an urgent request from the Danish resistance, 24toes of the RAF’s 140 Wing attacked university buildings housing the Gestapo headquarters for the Jutland area. This was to prove one of the most successful in a series of low-level attacks on similar targets.
Several key SS, SD and Abwehr personnel were killed, while most of the records held on suspected resistance members were destroyed. Stray bombs also fortuitously hit a barracks, killing 20 German troops. In total, 39 Gestapo staff and Danish employees were killed. 14 civilians were lost, 10 of these being construction workers at the university.
During the attack, one 487 Squadron pilot struck the roof of a building after firing at a German soldier attempting to set up a machine gun. Though histo took significant damage and masonry was later found embedded in its fuselage, the aircraft made it back to base. Anotherto lost an engine to...

An explosion was heard in Minsk at around 14:15. In particular, it was heard in Park Chalyuskintsau, Uruchcha, Mikhalova, and even outside the city – in Ratamka.
