Military activity in Belarus in September 2024. Briefly:
• A group of the Belarusian Armed Forces (~1600 people) is deployed in the area bordering Ukraine;
• At least 29 UAVs (27 of them – Shahed drones) flew into Belarus over the month, at least 2 of them were shot down by the Belarusian Air Force and the Russian Armed Forces;
• A Shahed drone flew into Latvia from Belarus for the first time;
• There’s no increase in the number of the military group of the Russian Armed Forces deployed in Belarus;
• Up to 100 mercenaries of PMC Wagner stay in Belarus, they continue to train security forces of the Lukashenka regime.

Preparations for the West-2025ls continue
In September, new information appeared regarding the preparations for next year’s majorls with the participation of the “regional group of troops” – West-2025.
Recall that back in February 2024, Minister of Defense of Belarus Khrenin said that in 2025,ls with the regional group of troops would be held in Belarus. A similar statement was made on September 9 by State Secretary of the Security Council Aliaksandr Valfovich, who said that in 2025,ls with the regional group of troops of Belarus and Russia would be held on the territory of Belarus.
Also, according to Belarusian Hajun, in early September, a delegation of servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces paid a working visit to Minsk to prepare for the upcomingls. In particular, their visit included a visual study of the places of troops’ deployment for the period of thels.

27 Shahed drones flew into Belarus in September (a record for the month), two were shot down, and one flew to Latvia
According to @Hajun_BY, at least 29ussian UAVs entered the airspace of Belarus in September, 27 of which wereussian kamikaze drones of the Shahed type. The drones flew into Belarus on September 3, 4, 5, 7, 13, 14, 24 and 26. Duty forces of the Belarusian Air Force were used to intercept 26 out of 29 UAVs.
It’s unknown what happened to most of them. Some of the drones returned to Ukraine, while others were shot down.
On the night of September 5, an air defense unit of theussian Armed Forces (Ziabrauka airfield) shot down one of the Shahed drones over Homiel. And this is the first known case of theussian military deployed in Belarus destroying a Shahed drone. On the same night, another Shahed drone was shot down by a fighter of the Belarusian Air Force over Khoiniki district, Homiel region.

Unknown persons smashed a helicopter parts manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg.
On the night of October 14, six masked men climbed onto the plant's premises on Kingiseppskoe Shosse. They were armed with axes and hammers. According to workers who were in the plant at the time, the unknown persons began to smash the machines using improvised means.
One of the them ran up to the workers and forced them to give him their phones.

Training sessions with conscripts of the territorial troops continued in September. It’s known that training sessions were held in 4 districts of Belarus during the month:
• in Kamianets district (≈140 reservists);
• in Hrodna district (≈105 reservists);
• in Vitsiebsk and Orsha districts (≈250 reservists).
In addition, activity related to the formation of national home guard detachments was reported in September. For example, exercises on the procedure for forming national home guard detachments were held in Salihorsk, Kletsk, Maladzechna, Miadziel districts, etc.
Separately, we can mention exercises with national home guard detachments in Smaliavichy district, where the issues of detachments’ formation, obtaining weapons and ammunition, and tactical medicine were discussed. The participants also practiced methods of countering a sabotage and reconnaissance group, which, according to the story, was trying to blow up a reservoir...

The number of the Russian Armed Forces in Belarus didn’t change in September
The Russian Armed Forces are still stationed in the following locations in Belarus:
• Baranavichy, Mazyr (Bokau) and Ziabrauka airfields – up to 550 people;
• Baranavichy radar station and the 43rd Vileika communication center – up to 1450 people.
Also, the following Russian military law enforcement agencies continue to work in Belarus: the 484th Military Investigation Department (Kletsk district, Minsk region) and the 313th Military Prosecutor’s Office of the garrison (Minsk). The number of personnel involved in these structures could be estimated at dozens of people.
Note that there was probably another rotation of the Russian contingent located at Ziabrauka and Mazyr (Bokau) airfields in late September. Previously, we recorded the rotation of the Russian military in December 2023, mid-February, late March, late April, late June and late July 2024. On...
