Also named Operation Al-Aqsa Flood - Black Sabbath - Simchat Torah Massacre - the 7 October attacks.
In the early morning of October 7th, Hamas and several other Palestinian militant factions launched a major attack on Israeli territory. It is considered one of the deadliest days in Israeli history, with a total of 1,139 people killed according to official figures (dated 15 December 2023) including 695 Israeli civilians (including 36 children), 71 foreign nationals, and 373 members of Israeli security forces. In addition, 251 hostages were taken, many still in captivity, creating also the worst hostage crisis in Israeli history.

A drone captured the moment of the occupiers' brutal crime. The Russians shot three unarmed Ukrainian fighters from one of the adjacent units at close range.
Later, fighters of the 12th Special Forces Brigade Azov together with the 49th Separate Assault Battalion captured one of the occupiers who committed this atrocity.
